LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
At this point, Palin should no longer be an issue
Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 | 2:03 a.m.
The Las Vegas Sun editorial on Thursday, “GOP and Palinpaloozza: Former vice presidential nominee starts book tour amid divisions in ranks,” could have been written about President Barack Obama or any high-profile person in America. Just change a few names and substitute NBC News for Fox News and we really have the same editorial.
Now if you want to really write an editorial, write about a real joke — the handful of Americans who run this country, the Congress of the United States. Here’s a couple for you: First of all, why is a man 93 years old, Sen. Robert Byrd, still in Congress? What really can he offer to the average American citizen who is out of work?
How about the two-party system? How’s that working in getting things done? How many hearings do we need on health care?
If we had the right people in Congress, we wouldn’t be in this mess today. We get nothing but hot air in Washington — these people should be flying balloons, not running the country.
Sarah Palin was a governor in Alaska, and the last time I looked, she’s not running for office. The only thing I see her doing is trying to sell a book. So I ask: What does she have to do with this mess in Washington and why the editorial on Palinpaloozza?
The real priority is the mess in this country and, regardless of party affiliation, write the editorials on the people who are causing this mess. I’m beginning to think time is running out on this country.

"Sarah Palin was a governor in Alaska, and the last time I looked, she's not running for office. The only thing I see her doing is trying to sell a book."
Except, that's not what she's doing.
Open your eyes, Dave. Her meddling in NY-23, for example. That had nothing to do with her book and everything to do with testing out her political power. Unfortunately for her, her political power is weak... practically negative.
Dave's sorta right, though. Obama was perceived as ill-prepared for the White House before he announced his candidacy. But as time went on, and more people got to know him, that opinion changed, and the majority elected him.
For Sarah Palin, the opposite happened. Less people today think she is ready than before she stepped onto the national stage. The more people have gotten to know Sarah, the less they like her, and after the brief bump in the polls when she was announced, support for the McCain/Palin ticket went into the toilet.
All good Democrats are thankful for Palin, anyway. She's fractured the republican party and began a purge of those who don't meet her rigid, misinformed ideology. She's forcing the republican party even more towards the far right, and further away from the independent voters.
Democrats continue to be afraid of Sarah Palin and are fighting back the only way they know how.
Democrats attempt to convince Republican to reject her is laughable.
Sarah is for small government, strong national defense, small businesses, pro-life, etc.
So Democrats are trying to get Republicans to reject Republican core values.
This is not about Sarah - Sarah is just a strong proponent of Republican values which Democrats are afraid of
The Republican party is in turmoil and Ms Palin adds to that turmoil and the Democrat's know it. Right now all Dems have to do is sit back and enjoy the mess she creates, like the loss in NY 23. As the 2010 elections get closer her popularity will continue to divide republicans. I don't think the usual gains by the minority party will be gotten.
Democrats afraid of Sarah Palin? I think not. Democrats afraid of not having Sarah Palin to divide the opposition? For sure.
The Sun needs a bad guy and they don't have the brains or the guts to go after the current lawmakers. As goofy as Palin was,she is old news and when the other side spends all their time ignoring the crook they elected by going after the crook that didn't win, it tells you that this paper is more for entertainment than information.
Well, for once Future might be sorta right.
Palin is definitely your typical republican. If by typical republican you mean the type that lectures about spending while begging Washington for more earmarks.
Yup, Palin's talking out of both sides of her mouth again.
In an article released just this year, Palin's own communications director admitted that Alaska received earmarks that were directly requested by Palin herself.
The media already exposed her "Bridge to Nowhere" lies, now they've debunked her other earmark lies as well.
She's the typical republican, lecturing about "runaway federal spending" while anxiously grabbing at Uncle Sam's checkbook.
Yup, just another strong proponent of republican values... like lying about demanding earmarks.
I Have to agree with Mr. Mesker, get to the core, the truth. Pull back the curtain and shine the light.
If we've learned nothing at all from the McCain/Palin candidacy, we should have learned that most media is biased. It reports it's own views. Fortunately, we all have the Internet, we can investigate and make our own decisions.
It would make more sense for Democrats to gloat if the Democratic Party had its s#*! together. But it doesn't, and so Palin is truly scary. Many people are unhappy with Obama, who seems to have forgotten what he told us all about the middle class, and he is on his way out if things don't improve. And, if people get fed up, it won't matter who's running against him - he'll lose. What Democratic Party leaders are you impressed with? Personally, no name comes to mind.
But I'd love to see Jesse Ventura run.
Why is Sen. Byrd still in Congress: Because he is the soul of the West Virginia Democrat party and they also will not vote for a Republican in that state. Why is the news media still attacking Sarah Palin because she is still a big threat to the Democrats and Liberal Woman.
The liberals need a new boogeyman,er, woman since they don't have George Bush to kick around anymore. So, Sarah Palin has become their target and someone they can use to try and divert attention away from the poor job Obama is doing.
we should follow Palin's solutions to Alaska's financial problems:
1. tax the mines like Alaska taxes the oil companies, [yes she is really a socialist!]
2. fence in all federal lands and for any car or truck leaving them charge a toll of 1 million dollars a day per vehicle to use our roads.
We will then be like Alaska totally dependant on big government [Washington], and taxing the "poor" mineral companies.
So, teabaggers, and Palin supporters, why don't you push the real Palin policies that she has shown in Alaska? Tell Gibbons to tax mines and ask for federal bailouts. Then we will be on par with Alaska, the socials/hypocrite state.
Slavic Muslims, Kurds, Afghans, Palestinians, Iraqis and Lebanese are all Caucasians, no colored in there. Colored are from deepest darkest Africa. They migrated to the West Indies and Harlem.
Sarah Palin is going to replace Oprah on the daily talk show on TV. Her appearance on Oprah was a preview of what's in store. No political office. Sarah will be previewing books and grading recipes from all over the world. I love it!
Please quit poking fun of Robert Byrd of West by god Virginia. He has served his state with great success. They have climbed out of sheer desperation into abject poverty during his time in the Senate.
Rhooster may have something there. I never thought about Palin replacing Oprah on T.V.
I hope it does not happen because it would cause a massive disturbance on the Left. Can you imagine the crying, whining and squealing coming from our friends on the far left?
They would sound like a bunch of pigs stuck under a gate...
Anyone know if Sarah Palin's new book is selling?
If it is like the guys on the left are always bloviating, no one likes Palin enough to buy her book.
They are claiming 300,000 sales the first day. Just finished reading it. Provided unique insight to the dirty world of politics. Also provided details of some of the ethics complaints and who brought them, and some of the campaign decisions. All in all, an eye opener.
Five political parties in order to change the magic number of two. All tiring accusations between rebublicans and democrats make the road to all slower national power. Can't believe this great country is wasting its acclamation like years.
How is Ms. Palin and her book gonna help the average Joe out? Much ado about notten.
I can't wait until the Republican party cuts itself in the throat by doing a RINO (Republican In Name Only) Witch Hunt and hopefully split the party in two.
Why does Ms. Palin and her book have to help the average Joe out? But, if you take the time to read her book, you will find that Sarah Palin is an ordinary American not born with a silver spoon and is dedicated to what she believes in. The average Joe just might be inspired by her book.
Sarah Palin's book will heal her financially and allow her to proceed with whatever political venues she wishes to proceed with. Of course, this irritates those on the far left that think that no person with different views should ever succeed in their endeavors...
Palin is a gold digger, pure and simple.
Her ethics problems stopped her in Alaska.
teamster, please explain why you think Palin is a gold digger.
And while you are at it what ethic problems stopped her in Alaska.
Plus, why is it that you guys on the left just can't stand anyone who doesn't have the same political views as you?
Larry:
Because the right-wing political views got us
in the mess we are now in.
Bank and loan deregulation and the lie about
Iraq. What more do you need?
Larry:
If you still have to ask questions about Palin
you have not done your homework.
I can't do all your work for you.
Sarah Palin is 14 minutes into her 15 minutes of fame. I hopes she makes a bundle off the book. I love to see dimwits separated from their money. It's kind of the reverse of how conservatives think liberals all smoke and eat Twinkies.
Good republican candidates running in 2010 will respectfully decline her support, and bad republican candidates will try to cash in on her popularity with the Palinites. They will all go down with Sarah as her popularity fizzles with all but the NASCAR crowd.
Afraid of Sarah? Afraid of her? I keep hearing from you guys that Democrats are "afraid" of her. Maybe you really believe it, but I am unconvinced. Do you honestly thing that anyone, and by anyone, I mean you too, can actually see her as POTUS? I mean really. Even you poor slobs finally came to the hard realization that a moron in the White House proved disastrous for the country. Look, if you really want to scare us, go with Huckabee. Same base as Sarah, but with something close to 1/2 a brain (I'm sure he was simply pandering when he said he believed in Creationism). I can assure you, we won't be laughing.
Ah... And the Palin hate continues from those on the far left. They make baseless negative statements and never substantiate them when asked. The compassion of the left is nothing but a saying...
All this talking about political hate ? And why is hate included in politics. You can hear and you can read, hate is where there is politics.
Why don't you leave that hate away ? We voters suffer the most from this political nonevent.
When Obama wrote his book all the minorities thought it was just grand that he wrote it.
When Sarah Palin writes a book all the lefties think she's running for office. Not so. That lady is just going to make a lot of money telling you iceholes what's wrong with the Democratic Party.
If you can't respect that woman for just being a good citizen that was drafted by her party to run for Veep, and did the best she could and is still taking grief from the left wing sycophants. Sarah Palin will be an All-Star fundraiser for the Republican Party for a while and then she will retire very rich and she will raise her family in the best tradition of stand on your own feet. She certainly brings out the passion in left wing media though. Consequently all the unions tell their membership how to treat her because they don't have a guddam clue to what's going on in the world w/o the union's interpretation. Got that skippy?
StanG and the left are terrified that Sarah Palin will lead a progressive movement that will change the looks of politics for years to come.
Why shouldn't the double standard dems keep the recruiter and exalted cyclops of the KKK named Robert Byrd in office, All he does is exemplify the true democratic party, Right! Let Trent Lott even say a few words to Strom Thurmond on his birthday as a kind gesture to an old man, You Lose your job as senate majority leader. How liberal!
Once again, as always, the liberals make their personal attacks. Why not explain the issues you have with Palin's beliefs and make an argument for your position?
Wait, sorry, I realized that would involve a thought process, something foreign to liberals. Never mind - go back to the name-calling.
