Grab a coat this morning on your way out. A winter-like chilled has cooled off Las Vegas Valley this morning, dropping temperatures to near freezing in some neighborhoods.
Shortly before 6 a.m., the temperature was 33 degrees at the Henderson Executive Airport and 38 degrees at the North Las Vegas Airport.
Temperatures were 40 degrees at 5:56 a.m. at McCarran International Airport, where the National Weather Service records the official reading for Las Vegas. The normal morning low for this date at McCarran is 44 degrees and the record low is 24 degrees, set in 1938.
The weather service says today will be sunny and temperatures will climb to 50 degrees by 9 a.m., to 61 degrees by noon and to top out at 62 degrees by 2 p.m.
The normal high for today's date is 65 degrees and the record high was 78 degrees, set in 1940, 1949 and 1977.
Overnight, temperatures will drop to a low of 41 degrees by early Tuesday and climb to a high of 66 degrees Tuesday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies, forecasters said.
Afternoon temperatures will warm up to 70 degrees by Thursday and Friday, forecasters said.
