The trial has been postponed for a man accused of shooting three Metro SWAT officers who were serving a warrant last year at his Henderson home.

Emmanuel Dozier was arrested after he allegedly shot at officers during a narcotics raid at his Seven Hills home on Dec. 28, 2008. His trial was set to begin Monday in front of District Court Judge Valorie Vega. It is now scheduled for May 3.

Dozier has pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder, three counts of battery with a deadly weapon and drug charges. He has been out of custody since posting a $75,000 bond in March.

Dozier's lawyer, deputy public defender Joseph Abood, has said his client didn't realize it was the police outside his house and acted in self-defense. He couldn't be reached for comment today.

Records indicate that the night of the shooting, Dozier was at the home he shared with his girlfriend, Belinda Saavedra, their 3-month-old son and Saavedra's 13-year-old daughter. Saavedra previously testified she never heard police announce themselves at the home.

After SWAT officers were unsuccessful in trying to breach the front door, they began to break through an adjacent window and that's when shots allegedly were fired from inside the house, police said.

Two officers were hit once in the leg. Another was hit in the leg and the hand, while a round to his chest was stopped by a bulletproof vest, authorities said.

  1. Self Defense; he thought he saw a gun on them!

  2. All DRUG "CRIMES" are Make-Believe crimes; this man is INNOCENT.

  3. Sounds like the only crime committed was breaking and entering by Metro Police. What do they expect people to do in this crazy day and age of violent home invasions. The Las Vegas police seem to have a bad habit of not announcing themselves as police officers and failing to conduct themselves in a professional manner when dealing with the public. Let's find out who requested and who authorized this ludicrous and baseless warrant? Nice shiner, Thanks Metro...

  4. Actually MG this happened down the street from my house and I heard them announce before they attempted to make entry to serve the warrant. I'm actually glad Metro had a warrant for his house, when you see numerous cars stopping and "questionable" people picking up packages late at night you become suspicious.

  5. And yet NO drugs were found, do the math...

  6. They let him out on bail?
    Nuts.
Anyone who shoots at the police should never see the streets again.
Plenty of people have smart comments about the Police, funny how few of them wouldn't call the Police when they feel threatened.

  7. funny how many of them have felt threatened by Police

  8. Of course no drugs were found. Haven't you ever heard biggies ten crack comandments?
"Never sell crack, where you live at"
"I don't care if they want an ounce, tell them bounce"
You should check his grandmas house. That's where the stash is!!!

  9. He is out on a $75,000.00 bail? And he has a PUBLIC DEFENDER ?? What is Wrong with this picture ??

  10. Most home invasions have the intruders posing as police. Dress up in a Ninja suit, flash a flea market badge and have cop type weapons. Look at the St. Valentine's Day massacre in Chicago, or the "Red Light Bandit" in California. Obviously self-defense, SWAT is in the wrong. They should be charged with civil rights violations.

  11. Oh come on, do people honestly think someone like that could be living in Seven Hills without additional income from questionable activities?

  12. These charges are BS. How are they gonna prove that he didn't believe his family was at risk? Exactly, they can't.

  13. Knock, knock.
    Ho Dat?
    Metro.
    Metro who?
Open the fricken door so we don't have to crawl through a window.
    Dave's not here.
We are city employees that make a lot of money from taxpayers, so open the door or we will huff and puff or we will give you a shiner.
    Bang, bang, bang.
Hey, mr Dozier just shot at us, quick get my union shop steward here. We can't work under these extreme conditions without a 8.2 percent pay raise.

  14. A person of his kind living with an illegal alien female in a house in the Seven Hills area, and on a minimum wage job? Come on, folks, this guy was dealing in dangerous drugs and should have been taken out by the arresting officers, who showed tremendous restraint, for some unkown reason.

  15. In Vega's courtroom he'll be convicted for sure. Espcially if the prosecution uses the "is it possible" line.

This is total BS, and we all know it. Just listen to the 911 tape from the girlfriend.

David Roger, stop wasting our tax dollars prosecuting this kind of stuff.

Gillespie, get a clue and train your officers to stop acting like they are above the law, they are supposed to enforce it, not become judge and jury.

  16. As I am sure that most are unaware, Dozier had sold cocaine from his residence to an undercover detective on several occasions.

He also had a 13 year old and a baby inside the residence from which he was selling the cocaine. He put those children in a position to be subjected to an array of danger. And don't forget, he had drugs AND a gun.

Now, think of this...how does a person who is selling drugs from his residence expect to have the same rights as you or me when it comes to protecting himself or his family.

He didn't think that a burglar was breaking into his home. He thought that one of his former clients (cocaine purchasers) was attempting to break in to steal his stash. Beacause as he put it, "If I would have known it was the police, I never would have shot." That shows where his mind was.

Also, his girlfriend was a hooker. So once again, a drug dealer, gun carrying criminal is living with a hooker and her two kids in a very nice neighborhood. Now, how are they paying for this home? Answer: Selling dope.

Why was nothiing found inside? Simple, he was out. It doesn't mean the police were wrong, just unlucky that day.

Dozier is a criminal, plain and simple. Anyone who disagrees, you need to stop depending on the newspaper for you information and you need to have your heads examined.

  17. G U I L T Y !!!!
Now am I off of jury duty???

  18. Maybe if the police kick his door down tomorrow or the next day they will get more lucky. In fact maybe they should also kick his grandmothers door in too, all the evidence they need is stated above that the drugs are all located there.

  19. Religion has nothing to do with this. It is only good for starting wars and keeping the weak minded out of trouble.
The only thing that truly matters is that poor child being abused and neglected from day 1 not day 1 of life but of conception. This child should have never been born. The mother is a known prostitute and methamphetamine addict that has been in trouble for these crimes prior to becoming pregnant. State funded hysterectomies and vasectomies for people that can not keep there noses clean. I know that the church would never allow such things they would rather see these people raise children in places of sex, abuse and drugs. That's a whole lot better.....right?
I have lived in this town for 30 years now and grew up with people that lived in homes where physical and sexual abuse was the norm and drug use was almost expected either by parents or older siblings almost a right of passage. Now they are in and out of prison long enough to work up a sex drive that a rabbit would be envious of and the circle is drawn long and infinite. Why...because it is our right to have a child.......Insane.

  20. Mr Metro chimed in! I don't care about him selling coke and a 13 year old? Like the Mormon guy in Hilldale? Half the chicken hawks busted in the last year have been school teachers or metro.

The baby and the thirteen year old were more endangered by Metro's smash down antics than some loser bent over a line. Time to wash out your own dirty long underwear/laundry Mr Metro.

  21. Veritas,

My comments are posted between yours.

Now, think of this...how does a person who is selling drugs from his residence expect to have the same rights as you or me when it comes to protecting himself or his family.

Every person has a right to defend their family. Who the heck are you to decide who should have rights and who shouldn't?

He didn't think that a burglar was breaking into his home. He thought that one of his former clients (cocaine purchasers) was attempting to break in to steal his stash. Beacause as he put it, "If I would have known it was the police, I never would have shot." That shows where his mind was.

Regardless of who was breaking into his home, Metro or a former client, he has EVERY right to defend himself.

Also, his girlfriend was a hooker. So once again, a drug dealer, gun carrying criminal is living with a hooker and her two kids in a very nice neighborhood. Now, how are they paying for this home? Answer: Selling dope.

Excuse me, what does his girlfriend being a hooker have to do with this????????????? You don't get to make the laws and as far as I know the consitution covers hookers and drug dealers. You don't get to suspend the constitution whenever you feel like it. Who are you to judge her, her children or her lifestyle? Were her kids fed, clothed and loved? Does that even matter to you?

Why was nothiing found inside? Simple, he was out. It doesn't mean the police were wrong, just unlucky that day.

Oh, yeah, lets all try to believe that one, OK? What are the odds that on the very day that Metro decides to bust him he suddenly runs out of drugs? What kind of a mismanaged drug dealer is he that he runs out???

Dozier is a criminal, plain and simple. Anyone who disagrees, you need to stop depending on the newspaper for you information and you need to have your heads examined.

Metro is the criminal here. If you want to arrest the man for dealing drugs, do so. If you want to arrest his girlfriend for being a hooker, do so. BUT DO NOT INVADE SOMEONE'S HOME LIKE A THIEF AND EXPECT NOT TO GET SHOT AT. AND STOP THINKING THAT THE CONSTITUTION IS MERELY A PIECE OF PAPER YOU CAN TRAMPLE ON WHENEVER YOU WISH.

YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR HEAD EXAMINED IF YOU THINK THAT THE CITIZENRY OF THIS COUNTRY HAS TO PUT UP WITH THIS KIND OF GESTAPO MENTALITY FROM THE PEOPLE WE PAY TO ENFORCE THE LAWS OF THE LAND.

  22. This leadcatcher's going INSIDE!

  23. How come only ONE black eye??

  24. How many innocent bystanders has metro shot serving warrants? Is there really a problem with the warrants or just more whining by anti-cop fruitcakes.
$75, 000. bail for shooting three cops, it is no wonder this town is a sewer

  25. Geeselouise: They had a signed warrant from a judge as law dictates, no constitutional laws were broken here. He wouldn't even have been arrested, or have to post bail if that were the case dummy! Also I'm sure the guns that he was in possession of were probably legal firearms as well, or he wouldn't be on the street right now..

  26. A search warrant does not give anyone the right to break in to someones house.

It give them a right to search.

  27. Burrito,

Dave's not here.........Man, I just had a flashback that almost decapitated me......The funniest ever.

Back on topic, Dozier is done, he needs to get ready for his new celly. Good riddance.

Thank you Metro for all of your hard work and especially thank your families for their sacrifices.

  28. right back at ya geezelouise:
You need to learn how to read:
    1. I never said he doesn't deserve to have the right to protect his family. I simply asked that the readers ponder the question of how he (the criminal) expects the public and criminal justice system to look at his actions the same way as they would for someone who was legitimately protecting his family.

    2. Does he really have every right to defend himself? Where does he get this right? When you can, please post where you invented, I mean learned this fact. And Metro wasn't 'breaking' into his home. Metro was serving a search warrant in accordance with the laws, state and federal.

    3. The girlfriend being a hooker just adds to the dysfunction of this "family." Are you a prostitute? Just wondering why you're so angry? Guess I struck a nerve. I never said anything about me making laws, or trying to rewrite the constitution. I have read it a couple times. And when did I talk about suspending the constitution? And when did I judge the hooker or her children? I am merely giving you the facts. Like it or not, it's the truth. Does it matter if she loved the kids? Absolutely. I love children and I hope they get the love they deserve. It will mean a lot when the cycle of life repeats itself and they are working as hookers and married to drug dealers who shoot at police.

    4. Lady, I am not sure what world you live in, but drug dealers do not portray the life that you watch on television. They have become somewhat more sophisticated over the years and use people like you who obviously have no clue as to what goes on in the world to do their lobbying for them. What would be best would be to call the police department and tell them to start having the criminals brought your house since you think you could do a better job, but wait, to you there are no criminals. They are all good people living in a town with rivers made made of chocolate and trees made of licorice and everyone is running around with gum drop smiles. The guy was a small time, and yes, mismanaged, drug dealer. They run out of drugs. And sorry, this guy didn't go to Harvard business school.

You obviously have much more deeper emotional issues. You definitely need help. Your emotions are preventing you from seeing the truth. He is a criminal, she is, or at one point, was a hooker. They have two kids that will PROBABLY end up like them, but hopefully not. He was selling cocaine. Yes, there was no cocaine in the house. No, the police did execute a search warrant, but did not 'break' into his home. Yes, they followed the constitution. Enjoy your day.

  29. To Geezelouise:

Right on Girl. You've hit the nail right on the head. This idiot writing back to you isn't the brightest light bulb on the block. No doubt a cop, or wannabe.

I remember this case very well. Who ever said the girlfriend was a hooker? And, if so, why was that thrown in, but to try for an advantage to some stupid person who has nothing going on in his life? No doubt a cop or wannabe.

As for umcmanic--where were you when this story was just happening. Your new testimony--was it provoked by the police, or are you just trying to seek attention? You didn't have anything to say a year ago. Why is that?

A search warrant, you say? More like a piece of paper to kill. Too bad this type protection doesn't happen more often. No constitutional right exists for police to NO-KNOCK at a home with children--to try and trap someone with something they do not want exposed--and risk the death of children. What type of police does this state condone? "Pit Bulls that breed with their own pups"?

In all likelihood the bail was put up by friends and family. Doesn't mean the kid has money for an attorney-does it? Public defender defense isn't much. Look at our prisons--they are full of men who couldn't afford anything but a public defender. Now, there is a crime. One of total indifference as viewed by our judges: "So sorry--too bad. Right Mosley, Vega, Leavitt & Glass"?

Ever wonder why the OATH KEEPERS of Nevada chartered up? Military and police defender's of our constitution--so that the police must stop violating citizen's rights and follow the constitution. I know most of you citizens believe the police at every turn, but how about the 156 murders by police that the coroner's juries have found justifiable? But, have wound up costing the citizen's of this state millions of dollars. Are you next? Might want to think about that?

Kids running away--no threat. Ice Cream ladies murdered in front of their own children--no threat says most witnesses. This killer was a pervert that cost the city $700,000 and lost his job for playing with a 15 year old girl. An honorable cop--you say? Oh yeah, they are all so honorable. Wanna buy an Ice Cream truck? Cheap?

This man should be given a medal for defending his home. He did the honorable thing. His court case is yet to be determined--don't judge him too fast. I see the cops as the foolishly dressed terrorists--which they are. We all know it. Destroying a citizen's home is just part of their fun--which they do--often and always! Your agreeing with them before they come to get you--won't spare you. You are not one of the privileged ones of Nevada. You know that to be true, too, don't you good citizens?

How much more are the Hell's Angels going to profit by this latest stupidity of Metro's swat team? Sounds a lot like the instant case at hand--doesn't it?

  30. So the guy's not dumb. Smart enough to keep his stash somewhere else. Maybe he was taught not to sh*t where he eats or something like that. Maybe he was keeping costs down by keeping his product closer to his customers. Walmart has taught everyone to minimize overhead and increase profits.

On the other hand, remember that little kid last year who was kidnapped by drug dealers pissed off at his grandfather? Those armed intruders pretended to be law enforcement to get into the house. He probably thought he was being jacked by his rivals or an unhappy customer. Too bad it was the real cops.........

  31. If this fine fellow's testimony differs from the police officer's who receive training on how to lie in court, I will have to accept his word. Unless the police officers have videotape, of course. They never have video, though. Because it would tend to incriminate them.

  32. To lv2gen:

Nice try! Now, go ask your boss, Sheriff Gillespie, when you can go to the bathroom. Don't forget to flush.

    Eagerly anticipating your next directive.

Las Vegas ain't gonna change for you, Geezlouise and Spartacusproject,
been here for a long time, and all the law enforcement in this town have always had more than a above average work-load on any day of the week, so I've always been under the impression that, even though I don't agree with every thing they do, I appreciate the fact that they can still keep things under control on a general basis without all h-ll breaking loose with all the transients that have moved here in the past mmm..8-12 years, so with that being said, when one gets so sick and tired of it that they can't take no more, move somewhere else, plain and simple...

  34. To David1961:

One thing I didn't see in your rant for the police department is the murder of 156 citizens without benefit of a trial for their guilt. Stick around -- you may be next.

Does Ice Cream and murdered in front of her children mean anything to you? Of course not. You've lived here for so long things like that are common.

As for living here: "You've got to be kidding"! What is special about this town? Corrupted police. Corrupted and thieving casinos. Houses of prostitution with the blessing of the state. OH, Yeah, you've got a wonderful town. I'm leaving, without any help or suggestion from you and yours. What you've got here is your own making. It is disgusting.

When your children are old enough--tell them how much you love this town. That is: "if your children survive the police". You might also give thought to the young boy recently murdered by Metro in front of his mother. Ain't you proud? Hell, you might not make it yourself...

Be careful what you wish for--you might just get it--in the back from Metro!

  35. I'm still wondering why metro tried to go through the window and allow even ONE shot at a police officer?

I guess we can't expect all metro police officers to be Navy SEAL quality but WTF? how does one gangster hit 3 police officers!!!

It seems like poor planning on metro's part to me.

  36. Geezlouise, Nice Job spanking Veritas's butt, some people just don't get it until it bites them on the arse. Keep up the good work.
