This is a September 1965 photo of entertainer Monti Rock III.

Monti Rock III is one of those Las Vegas residents famous for being famous, like Paris Hilton only more flashy.

The darling of the talk shows in the '60s parlayed his charm and his disco background into appearing in the 1977 John Travolta hit "Saturday Night Fever" -- he was the DJ at the dance club.

In 1975 Rock released Disco Tex and His Sex-O-Lettes, which was produced by Bob Crewe (of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons fame).

Two cuts from the album, "Get Dancin'" and "I Wanna Dance Wit' Choo (Doo Dat Dance)," became hits.

Rock is resurrecting Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes for the Disco Ball at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City Saturday.

Also on the bill are some of the greatest names in disco and funk history, including Tavares, Evelyn Champagne King, France Joli, Trammps, Bonnie Pointer, Loleatta Holloway, Sugar Hill Gang and more.

  1. Seems like you've got to be 50 or 60 years old to even know who Monti Rock III is ...
My first remembrance of Monti , like so many others , is from the Merv Griffin Show from New York in the mid 60's. He was very cutting-edge for that day and age. No-one else like him. I had the good fortune to see him in person at a show in the early 80's at a Miami Beach Hotel. He was still mesmerizing even then !
Monti , I have always admired you and I wish you all the best ! Have fun in AC !
