LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Economy taking a backseat to Obama’s agenda

Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.

Barack Obama, since Day One as our president, has been misled by his advisers, which has resulted in his putting the issues of the day in the wrong order of priority.

It appears he has in error put the cart before the horse. The cart is the costly radical agenda now being foisted on the American people and the horse is the economic engine that keeps our nation’s prosperity humming.

It would have made more sense for Obama to reverse his actions. After all, without a solid economy, which we currently do not have, all the socialistic policies being pushed — national health care, cap and trade, card check and others — cannot succeed without bankrupting our country.

Had Obama’s advisers been smart enough, he may have been able to outfox the American public by prioritizing the economy as America’s No. 1 issue of concern. If he had succeeded there, perhaps the public’s resistance to his agenda would have been lessened. Then again, maybe not.

Obama should remember that he has talked about change on numerous occasions. It is never too late, then, to make the right change unless his agenda is so fixed as to not let him do so.

  1. sorry skippy...
    one word gave you away...
    "socialistic"...
    ruined your whole thesis...
    revealed your true colors...
    tuned you out after that...
    have a great day...

  2. Relax Birdie, let me take it from here.
A liberal is the guy who, when you give him a free cold beer on a hot summer night day, is pissed off that you ran out of cups to go with, SOMEBODY was DENIED a CUP, dammit, It's not FAIR.

  3. I don't want companies going to Las Vegas or the Superbowl on the taxpayers dime.

Thanks Mr. President. The unintended consequences have been hard on a lot of people. thanks again for your photo op moment.

  4. Clarence, boy you are a qucik study. Where were U 8 years ago, while Boy George was driving economy off a cliff? U proabably still beleuve that old Iraq-NAm NIE too.

  5. Wishy--washy letter.

  6. It is not Obama's advisors causing the problem, it is Obama himself. He has a hardcore socialist agenda and if he doesn't get it put into effect before the 2011 elections, he knows he never will.

  7. Socialist policies!
    Teleprompter!
    Dijon Mustard!?!?
Our entire way of life is danger!
Oh dear God, who will save the children!?!

  8. Who will save the children?
The Sara Palin / Carrie Prejean ticket.
Two beauty pagent winners with high moral standards, if you overlook greed, misuse of power, boob jobs and sex tapes.

  9. Willie, Willie, Willie, why all the put downs this morning...

You guys on the Left are scared to death of any conservative women who dares to speak their mind.

As a matter of fact you guys lost your chance of making Hillary the President by your sexist attitudes...

Oh by the way, you can pre-order Sarah Palin's new book on Amazon.com for only $9...

  10. The election of Barack Obama proved that there wasn't much to choose from. Mitt Romney was clearly the best choice, but he saw the groundswell of white guilt that was growing for this President and he opted out. Who knows, maybe he got threats. Acorn is capable of that I'm sure.

  11. LOL, Republicans love them some really dumb women, don't they. And that's another faux news talking point I just don't get. When you point out how stupid Sarah is, they're all like, "you lefties are really SCARED of her--so that must mean she's smart."

Although I am looking forward to watching Ms. Prejean... um, tending her garden

  12. $9.00 for Palin's book. Pretty cheap. What did she do, write half the book and quit?

  13. Typical Democrats: They always think that non-whites and all woman must agree and vote Democrat or there some kind of traitor towards America.

  14. No PowerPlay, it's guys like you and Glen Beck that are the "experts" at rooting out traitors (:

  15. I am going to start keeping a list on drives the compassionate guys on the far Left completely nuts.

Mention these names and it's like holding up a cross in front of a vampire...

FOX News or any news outlet that bothers to report the news...

Sarah Palin or maybe just women in politics...

Glenn Beck will get the Left's hackles up...

And of course, George Bush, who will send these guys completely beserk...

  16. POWERPLAY...you are right and okra is wrong. a woman's place is in the mall.
The recent gubernatorial race in Virginia proved that non-white voters don't vote unless there is a non-white running. Although President Obama being half non-white is right almost half of the time. Not!

  17. Lou Dobbs just signed a multi-year contract with Taco Bell..Cowabunga! more details later.

  18. I heard he signed with Telemundo. Yowza!

  19. BREAKING NEWS: Glenn Beck is jumping from FIXED News to the Sci-Fi Channel.

  20. LarryVegas: "I am going to start keeping a list on drives the compassionate guys on the far Left completely nuts."
Those subjects are a great source of laughter for me. Keep up the good work.

  21. Larry,
Would you then, in the name of bi-partisanship,
work to eradicate these festering boils, in an effort to bring some consensus-building to the process? THAT would prove your stated political affiliation, "Independent", is not just some silly ruse that you use to cloak your real neo-con self.
p.s... don't forget to add that festering boil Rush to your list!

  22. Ooooh rats! If Lou Dobbs leaves CNN, where'm I gonna get my birfer news?

  23. Boy gmager... How could I have forgotten about Rush Limbaugh? I don't know. Maybe because, nobody has ranted about him today. Or maybe I don't consider him a major political player, or maybe because I don't listen to Limbaugh.

I have been diagnosed as a conservative liberal. Or was it a liberal conservative...

    No party affiliations for me...

  24. It's not only the economy that has taken a back seat to Obama's agenda...

Everything has taken the back seat while Obama pursues his socialist agenda to have a complete federal takeover of our health care system.

  25. Phargo:

"The election of Barack Obama proved that there wasn't much to choose from. Mitt Romney was clearly the best choice, but he saw the groundswell of white guilt that was growing for this President and he opted out. Who knows, maybe he got threats. Acorn is capable of that I'm sure."

Hey Phargo, don't tell anyone, but I'm really a top secret operative for Acorn. I'm with the Bill Ayers center for voter registration/home loans/pimps and ho's department.

All I can tell you is this: Be very Afraid!

  26. Okra: you can still get birfer updates @ www/birferbull-s__t.nut/

  27. Speaking about taking the back seat...

After months of deliberating, President Obama opted not to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team.

Isn't that special... I guess none of Obama's national security team recommended pulling out of Afghanistan...

This is a clear case of listening to "Move On" instead of listening to his generals and national security team...

  28. Boob jobs are great if you want one. What we need is some Brain Jobs so that Obama, Reid, Pelosi et al would have some brains. Then again, they wouldn't know what to do with them if they had them.

  29. jlb101, apparently U have resided on Mars for the past 9 years. Don't be gullible like the Germans.

  30. LarryVegas: Let's put "W" on the Afghan recommendation team. Who needs intelligent planning? They're not your kids dying for unstated or erroneous reasons.
Oh yeah, Isn't bin Laden in Pakistan? Let's invade there too. What's a couple thousand more dead, give or take? We can figure out why we're there later.

  31. Willie...

Why don't you just accept the fact that our troops in the field in Afghanistan are dying while the President delays making a decision on whether he will support them or not.

It is becoming more apparent that the longer the President procrastinates on Afghanistan, he is looking for a way to pull out of Afghanistan and let another generation of our youth resolve the situation.

The same goes for Iran and North Korea. The President is busy in campaign mode while both countries develop nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them. If the President can, he will ignore these pending crises and let someone down the road face them.

Oh, by the way Willie. Your statement: "They're not your kids dying for unstated or erroneous reasons." is another example of your complete lack of compassion for anyone other then yourself.

  32. Before President Obama took off on a 10 day tour of Asia aboard his private 747, he announced that when he gets back in December, he will have a jobs summit to inform us how well the country is doing in job growth.

Then in January, after a two week sightseeing trip to Europe, he will hold a summit on the housing crisis.

In February, the President will start traveling nonstop across the U.S. in his private 747 campaigning for the Democratic House members who are all up for reelection.

After the November election, the President intends to take another look at Afghanistan and he hopes that things have deteriorated so much there, that he will have to pull the remains of our troops out.

In December, the President will announce a multi billion dollar stimulus bill for the Taliban government in Afghanistan to regain their hold on the Afghanistan people.

In January of 2010, will hold another summit to determine why the job situation has not improved.

  33. President Obama on 11-12-2009, announce a December jobs summit aimed at synching job growth with the massive government spending.

Obama said the White House forum will gather CEOs, economists, financial experts and representatives from labor unions and nonprofit groups "to talk about how we can work together to create jobs and get this economy moving again."

Obama said the forum is intended to prevent making "any ill-considered decisions -- even with the best intentions -- particularly at a time when our resources are so limited. But it's just as important that we are open to any demonstrably good idea to supplement the steps we've already taken to put America back to work."

LOL 11 months into his Presidency still has no support for Small Business.

Few people seem to understand the dynamics of job levels during a recession. That Jobs have historically been a lagging indicator is true but much more intertwined will fear of the future.

A job position can only exist when there is adequate recovery of costs for the product or services rendered. Costs typically include cost of money, materials, building rent, salary and benefits, and TAXES.

In recent times with inventories controlled by high speed computers businesses can stop the procurement of materials and hiring almost instantly. Job losses are now a leading indicator of a recession. From there de-staffing to match cost recovery is also now lighting fast.

Those workers that are left are on a treadmill to achieve higher productivity -- more results for less man-hours hence the long crawl back. So after a frightening layoff rate in December 2008 and January 2009, the layoffs have slowed every month since January. This means that businesses are bringing staff in line with recoverable costs from sales.

What is quite another course is one of "Hiring" in the face of over leveraged consumers (70 percent of the economy) and stagnate revenue.
Job losses are now a leading indicator and Job gains are still a lagging indicator -- resulting in longer unemployment durations.

Per the SBA Small Businesses with fewer than 20 employees account for 40% of job recovery in the 2001 recovery.

After 11 months, Obama is still waiting for the Small Business Memo from his economic team.

  34. I would just like to say that after being out of town for a week and missing all of the give and take between "conservatives" and "liberals", all I can say is that none of you have changed a bit. Both sides still act and write like they have no other purpose in life than to put down and demean the other side. As far as I am concerned, most of you are simply as screwy as my Aunt Winona's pet squid.

  35. Hey bigdon... Welcome back. I don't know if we missed you but welcome back anyway.

You also fit in here with the rest of us quite well...

If your Aunt Winona's pet squid is screwy, what is your Aunt Winona's mental status???

  36. LarryVegas: "Why don't you just accept the fact that our troops in the field in Afghanistan are dying while the President delays making a decision on whether he will support them or not."
Larry, how soon you forget that G.W. Bush "dithered" in Afghanistan for 8 years of this 9 year old war while he wasted 4,000 American lives and billions of dollars in his useless war in Iraq while he played cowboy trying to impress his daddy.
40,000, 60.000, or 100,000 more troops will only insure that the ranks of our war dead will increase faster.
Wake up and face some facts. If you were reasonable you would realize that these wars are not worth fighting. Think of the money we would have to spend on finding and killing terrorists if we gave up trying to put a McDonalds on a Kabul street corner.

  37. I don't care if George Bush or George Washington dithered in Afghanistan. What I care about is that our current president, Barak Obama is "dithering" in Afghanistan.

Two choices: Support our troops or bring them home...

My personal opinion is that Obama is waiting for an excuse to bring our troops home and abandon Afghanistan to the Taliban...

Obama is not accountable to the American people, he is accountable to the Daily Kos and Move on...

  38. LarryV:

Sarah Palin's book will make a great
    trash can liner.

  39. teamster:

I can see you are open minded as usual.

I do not think that Palin's book is for you, as it does not come with crayons.

Besides, Palin's husband is a union member, and you just crapped on a fellow union member's wife.
You should turn in your union card and ask for forgiveness from Jimmy Hoffa.

I hope you can sleep well tonight after what you just did... I would not want to be in your shoes, even if they were union made.

    Repent you sinner...

  40. obama is like the little wuss that got beat up in school and has never recovered. Hop on the plane, close your eyes and hold your breath! Maybe he can tap his ruby slippers and make it all go away!

  41. LarryV:

Guess I hit a nerve Larry.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
    Name calling again, how childish.

  42. spock:

    Name calling.

Is that all you Republicans are good for?

    Very childish.

  43. LarryV:

I would never be in any Republican shoes.

  44. After 8 years Hillary will take over and
    continue the progressive movement.

  45. I'd like to say the dialog has digressed drastically on this page but then I re-read the first comment. I realized that the comments started out in the toilet, so how could they possibly digress?

Most of you would benefit by getting permission from a grown-up before posting.

  46. teamster, please refer to me as an independent conservative, That's how I roll. In the big picture, what part of my post did you find so childish? Please refresh my shortcomings on the lack of knowledge I have when it comes to the obama project! Name one thing this "fraud" has done to help this country! When times get tough,Grease up air force one.

  47. okra..if you mess with me I'll shove your o, your k, and your r up your a.

  48. spock:

Every Independent I know is a Republican.
You can't hide from the truth.

  49. teamster, How typical! Please tell me a good obama bed time story. You know, like the one where he ...................

  50. Federal stimulus money is being used to save state, county and city government jobs by covering budget shortfalls in 44 states.

A report by the Center for Economic and Policy Research says that state and local budget deficits to the tune of $100 billion a year will offset the stimulative effect of the president's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Stimulus dollars used to cover deficits will have no stimulative effect, and the benefit of stimulus money well-spent will be offset if states increase taxes or decrease spending to close budget gaps, the report says.

    http://bobscorner.tumblr.com/post/996566...

  51. B.S. Express!

  52. Only if you are a Republican.

  53. The day I have to lie or hide the truth to anyone on this post will be the first and last!

  54. Hey teamster...

Would you wear a pair of Republican shoes if they were union made before you would wear a pair of Democrat shoes that were not union made? Huh?

Don't you put union principles in front of political party principles?

  55. The reason he's is trying to ram whatever lib/soc agenda comes to mind is that he knows the groundswell against his swill is coming and the Dems won't be in power after 2010. They might still have more folks than the Repubs but not enough to pass the crap and spend he is becoming famous for.

  56. I don't remember hearing anyone complaining about their health care coverage in this country.
Everyone was pretty much okay with it except maybe the terminal patients. All the sudden everyone has an opinion of what's wrong with it. Last year it wasn't even mentioned until Obama started woofin' about it in order to get elected. Now that he's in he's discovered two things. One, it ain't gonna happen, and two, he ain't the guy!
