LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Republicans put their party ahead of constituents

Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 | 2:03 a.m.

The House health care legislation had 39 Democrats voting against it while only one Republican voted in favor. This shows, once again, that the Republicans put party first while the Democrats vote for what they think their constituents favor.

It would be refreshing if all congressmen had the courage to represent their constituents and not blindly follow their party’s path. They are more Republican than American. The Republican Party flag probably flies higher in their front yards than the American flag.

I am not saying that all Republicans should have voted for the bill, just as I am not saying all Democrats should have voted for it. What I find hard to believe is that only one Republican truly favored the health care plan.

Ever hear of the saying “Have the courage of your convictions”?

  1. Tha lone Republican was bought and paid for by several "goody" trips personnally by Obama.

That is how Obama plays the bi-partisen botton.

"What I find hard to believe is that only one Republican truly favored the health care plan."

Why the bill does not work for anyone

for $1.2 trillion dollars and 1990 pages the CBO is telling us we are getting:
    - 98% of the people NOT covered by the public option
    - 29 million NOT covered by health insurance
    - A wait time of 6 months if you have a pre-condition
    - installs a "Payment Advisory Commission" (wage, price, and rationing control board)
    - $490 billion taken away from senior's Medicare
    - $280 billion NOT paid to Doctors for services rendered
    - A new 5.4% surcharge tax on small businesses
    - A new 5.4% income tax surcharge
    - Mandatory changes to current insurance policies in five years
    - Insurance premium increases
    - It does NOT include tort reform to save money
    - It does NOT allow plans to cross state lines
    - It does NOT reduce the cost of healthcare providers
    - It does NOT have a enforceable Individual mandate
    - It does NOT allow for catastrophic" healthcare policies.
    - It does NOT preclude cost shifting.
    - It does NOT impose tort reform to reduce defensive medicine.

  2. D.O.A. in Senate. The Nancy/Obama shame will not make it through the senate. The longer they do not bring it forward for debate and vote, the less chance it will have of passing. More and more folks everyday see the writting on the wall, this is nothing but a shame for Nancy and Obama to try and get their names to go down in history as passing a bill and comparing this "historic" moment to the passage of medicare or social security. Its for their own benefit to become famous - they are just figments of their own immagination. Health care - dead on arrival in the senate. And Obama said he would not sign bill if it increases deficit one dime - lets see if he has the kiwis to back up that statement.

  3. "for what they think their constituents favor."

Poll after poll after poll shows that the majority of constituents including Nevada are against ObamaCare.

  4. the answer is simple...
the stupid pathetic lying republicans are children...
    itty bitty children...
and children are not capable of thinking of the greater good...
they think only in terms of me me me...
who the hell would join the stupid pathetic lying republican party these days...
    only l-o-s-e-r-s!!!

  5. hey private pebble...
one of these days you are going to come to the realization that the polls you are shown by cluster fox are bogus...
it is going to be very painful...
you are going to feel badly betrayed...
    good luck with that...

  6. Backwards future & Brown - something original - not the same old copy & paste day after day the same bogus lies....

  7. Let me repeat Joe wilsons shout towards YOU Robert Blanner.
    YOU LIE!
    Go to www.numbersusa.com/content/
Read about how the Dems. have not provided e-verify or any other protection to stop umdocumented aliens from using the provisions of the bill with no verification on being a citizen or not, and your upset at the Republicans for WHAT? The Dems for years have been behind giving rights for illegals instead of doing the right thing for our country and deporting them. Harry Reid the Senate Majority Leader has sponsered the dream act '09. A bill that will allow any child brought here into our country by an illegal parent and can be at the age of 30 yrs. old now. Does our Government have documentation on how old a 30 yr. old was when he came into our country? I think not.
Once any child turns 21 they can bring in all of their relitives with a greencard through family member. Some figure up to 20-30 million.
Robert Blanner is this why you are siding with the Democrats so Americans can loose what little jobs that are left?
Robert Blanner is this why you are upset with the Repubs. for trying to protect the American citizens?
I agree that american CITIZENS need health care but not at the cost of giving health care to illegal immigrants. At that point we as a country would see a never ending flow of illegals coming into our country. The way our government is controlling illegals now, it would be a disaster.

  8. mwh710 Do give the same advice to Birdie, or because he agrees with you, its ok to post the same copy everyday ?? See, you dems all follow the leader and be good little sheep and repeat the dem talking points ( do you need a teleprompter so not to mess up? )

  9. hey brownie...
    you know what is pathetic...
w the scum bag liar loser clown couldn't read sentences with more than three words in them...
because he was dumb, dumb, dumb...
    i mean stupid, stupid, stupid...
i am talking we would have made fun of him if we were in his college class...
    either undergrad or grad...
    i mean painfully slow...
and you try to make fun of obama's teleprompter...
    hee hee hee...
    hoo hoo hoo...
    haa haa haa...

  10. WRONG HEADLINE! Should read commie-siders put party ahead of constiuents. The congressional Republiscum is too top-heavy with elected Vietnam War draft-dodging FELONS. Aren't FELONS prohibited from holding ANY public elected office? Can you say Coburn, Boehener, Hatch (crooner), Imus, Newt, Bishop Mitt, Shelby, Grassley, Sessions, Rush, Dobbs (birther), O'Reilly, Cal Thomas, SCOTUS in-Justice Alito, Kristol, Hammmer, etc.?

  11. So is this writer saying the Democrat party rank in file are all on board with things like legalizing 12 mil illegal immigrants? No, the Democrat party panders for votes and if it flys in the face of what their constituents want, so be it. It is this party that puts itself ahead of what the voters want. But, to be completely honest the Republicans aren't much better anymore. The difference is alot of Democrats won't admit that about their party as it throws them under the bus.

  12. Many of the Democrats who voted for this piece of garbage will lose their seats next year because they sold their constituants down the river just to gain favor with the Botox Queen. Titus and Shelby are both traitors to Nevada and should be replaced.

  13. For Birdie:

    Are all these Fox Polls?

Gallup 48% against the healthcare bills and 43% for it.

    NPR: 47% against 42% for

    NBC: 42% against 36% for

The latest poll in Nevada says 52% against and 45% for it.

Yes, Ms. Taxus (Titus) you voted against the wishes of your voters.

Yes, Mr. Reid you are working against the wishes of your voters.

  14. What idiots. Do you enjoy being denied procedures and drugs by the health care companies against the wishes of your doctors? Your hatred of this president has blinded you to the fact that your helth care is compromised by these health care companies solely for their profit.

  15. lcdrmandingusnamvituperative:
Nobody on your list is an African-American.
does that mean all black people are wunnerful?

  16. The Democrats that voted for this bill are in grave danger of losing their Mickey Mouse jobs. This bill will not get through the Senate. The Senate has their own idea of health care. It stinks too. Health care reform is a non-starter, It ain't gonna fly. Pelosi is going to lose her election and so will Hoyer. If their constituents are that much for passage of a weak bill ,well they are out of luck.

  17. Hey Robert Blanner: That was a nice stupid letter that you wrote: Let me just sum it up for you. REPUBLICANS unlike the DEMOCRATS do not talk sh#t about this country and they also do not go off-shore and do the same thing as well. And as for are flag the DEMOCRATS don't care about it they just burn it anyway.

  18. SgtRock:
Ignore every thing that birdiedreamin says.
He is delusional, it just might be congenital, or he is a laboratory experiment.

  19. notacon prior posts shows that he hates just about everybody and everything that do not conform to his political convictions...

But I don't why he dislikes: "Boulder City and its Big Brother police department."

  20. Birdie - you need to let George W. Bush go - hes been effectively out of office for a year and this all belongs to Obama now - economy, Iraq, Afganistan, health care, etc. You can't continue to blame Bush for everything when your guy has accomplished nothing except lowering our defenses against terriorism and now we have the Ft. Hood situation - nice job Barack - or was that Bushes fault? Now the attacks begin on our soil again.

  21. Perhaps republican constituents are concerned about a fourth Ponzi scheme being enacted. Hopefully the children won't be to upset paying off our debts.

  22. Dingo: what about Neal Bush? I heard somewhere that he's responsible for the sickle cell.

  23. "The latest poll in Nevada says 52% against and 45% for it. Yes, Ms. Taxus (Titus) you voted against the wishes of your voters."

Only if you were dumb enough to think the entire state of Nevada is representative of Titus' district. She represents a certain portion of only southern Nevada voters, and most of her voters reside in the suburbs of Las Vegas and Henderson.

That's completely different than the poll you reference, that should be representative of the entire state, which would include overwhelmingly Republican rural Nevada and northern Nevada.

  24. To my surprise, edgewise has a point there. (and not the one on his head)

Representative Dina Titus knows, or at least, should know, the demographics of her district and know how best to represent them.

If she is correct, she will most likely be reelected.

If she is incorrect, she will most likely not be reelected.

I hope Dina Titus is correct, because she has shown sincerity in her effort to represent her district...

  28. sgtrock:

Harry Reid is doing the job the majority of
Americans voted for. Health care reform will
pass and more Repubs will lose their seats next
year for voting against the will of the people.

    Quit drinking your righty kool-aid.

  29. How far in the sand is your head?

    Not deep enough........

But I am very happy that so many of you guys-n-gals are drinking the koolaid.

  32. teamster if you are for making the illegals in our country, citizens of our U.S.A, then you must be for Harry Reid.
