Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 | 1:48 a.m.
A man opened fire inside a bar near the ski town of Vail Saturday night, killing one person and wounding three others, police said. A suspect was quickly arrested.
Police said the shooting erupted about 7:30 p.m. at the Sandbar Sports Grill, a popular bar that can hold more than 200 people.
Witnesses told the Vail Daily newspaper that a man was being escorted out of the bar when he pulled a gun and fired shots and left. Then he re-entered and fired several more shots, about 10 in all.
The town of Vail has identified the man arrested by police as Richard Moreau, 63. Moreau was being held in the town jail. Moreau was described as a Vail resident and regular at the bar.
The identities of those killed and wounded haven't been released.
Vail Police Chief Dwight Henninger said three people were wounded, one with serious injuries and another with a minor wound.
John Aloe told The Denver Post that he was sitting in the bar watching a televised football game when said he heard sounds that he thought "was fireworks."
Then people starting rushing toward the back door and Aloe said from the look on their faces, he knew something serious was happening.
Witnesses had gathered Saturday night at a nearby restaurant where they were being interviewed by two victims advocates.
