NV Chief Justice Hardesty running for re-election

Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 | 5:12 a.m.

Nevada Supreme Court Justice James Hardesty says he will seek re-election next year to a second term.

Hardesty is a former chief district court judge in Washoe County who was elected to the high court in 2004.

In recent years, the Attorneys for Criminal Justice gave him their "Defender of the Sixth Amendment" award and Nevada Legal Services picked him for its "Champion of Justice" award.

So far, no one has announced plans to challenge him in the 2010 election.
