Letter to the editor:
Fox News has few credentials to stand on
Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 | 2:02 a.m.
I often see letters, commentaries and opinions about Fox News Channel. I have a couple of general comments that have nothing to do with politics.
First, you can’t label yourself one way or another without someone with credentials to back it up. Let’s take a look at “fair and balanced.” Maybe Fox News Channel is that in some cases, not in others.
But promoting yourself in this self-serving manner immediately raises suspicion. If the Society of Professional Journalists or a similar organization has said, yes, Fox is fair and balanced, then use the endorsement and tell us where it came from. I might accept the claim of this achievement, depending on where the endorsement came from. Then, I will decide.
Second (and this one drives me crazy, and is why I watch very little Fox News) is the statement, “We report ... You decide.” That should be obvious — you don’t need to tell us. All news organizations report, and we’ll decide based on the many sources we feed on.
Howard Cosell used to drive people nuts, to the point where some people were known to throw bricks through television sets. Well, guess what? I’m a little concerned about leaving the TV on Fox News by mistake, and hearing this nonsense from another room. I have some cinder blocks just outside on the patio — a “stone’s throw away.”

fair and balanced...
hee hee hee...
hoo hoo hoo...
haa haa haa...
they can't even get the truth right!!!
I just love it when libs attempt watching Fox News.
Keep watching and keep reporting.
FAUX NEWS
We Contort - You Deride!
The liberals just can't stand the one network that doesn't worship at the feet of Barack Obama and the Democrat party.
FIX NEWS is right, everybody else is wrong!
I just love the way FOX News drives the guys on the left completely nuts...
The left including the White House are frustrated because they can not control Fox News like they do MSNBC and the networks.
You are not forced to watch FOX News, go somewhere else and be happy. Turn to Sponge Bob Square Pants, as you will learn more then MSNBC.
Anyway, keep knocking FOX News and we will know that all is well with you guys who have to control everyone's thought and speech...
Fox News enjoys the highest ratings on cable-tv.
Like them or not, they get watched by more people than MSNBC or CNN.
I never miss O'Reilly, but I can't stand Beck and Hannity. Geraldo is a fraud, but on the whole, Fox is better than average and more reliable than most. I ask myself why does the White House hate them? I wish the White House would direct their hate to real enemies.
Hey Marte: Fox News is not going anywhere but further up in the ratings. Thats because Fox News is much more beliveable then all the other networks out there. They have more liberals on that network then all the other networks have conservatives combined. ABC/CBS/NBC/ Lie everyday they have no creditability at all' CNN walks around with a stick up there ass everyday as well' And MSNBC/PBS/and NPR/ as well as AIR AMERICA/ are worthless! >>>>> They should just go ahead put those four stooges on comedy central to give there ratings a chance to go up. Fair and Balanced is something that the other networks just don't understand and practice.
Hey Marte - Opinions are opinions. I think the ratings of the various news shows are what paint the picture of what people want to watch. Check the ratings and get back to us. Oh, and remember to stay away from sharp and pointed objects.
This letter to the editor simply serves to continue the thread from yesterday's letter to the editor about Fox News with nearly all the same users commenting nearly the same things.
You are a group of less than 20 people standing in a circle taking turns whacking a dead horse laid in the middle. You're suckers for stale bait. Enjoy spinning your wheels.
Fox has adopted the "Big Lie" propaganda of Hitler's Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels. Their fair and balanced approach is to tell the "Big Lie" over and over and people will believe it. Now, who are those people that believe the twisted and distorted information that is dispensed like flushing a toilet. Can you raise a family on lies? Can you build a community, city, state, or nation with lies? Can a school or college educate people with lies? Did Wall St. propagate the "Big Lie" Fraud? Did president cheney and puppet bush propagate the "Big Lie" so they could invade Irag for Israel and their oil company cronies? Knowing the truth may not set you free but you will at least have information that forms an educated opinion. Go home tonight and tell your children that you believe in the "Big Lie."
Hey ghostcommander, where do you get your news?
I guess you would you rather have your news filtered by the White House...
ghostcommander:
Shouldn't you be out on a ledge somewhere?
While I usually watch Fox news in the morning, I just HAD to watch MSNBC's take on yesterday's gubernatorial elections in NJ and VA. Now that was RICH!!!
BZ for Palin, Lim"p'baugh, and Beck. This corps of religious nutjobs (Beck-Palin) and commie-sider and whore-warmonger/crackhead (Rush), gave the Dixiecrats an additional congressional seat.
In case you can't figure it out, our friend Dingo does not have much use for Rush Limbaugh. But I believe that Dingo speaks from his heart.
Politics aside, Fox News is the BEST news network ever to hit the tv airwaves. Their MTV style moves you through the news like a great rock n roll tune, hot chicks, legs and all!!
LarryVegas:
If you like and support Fox you are a
right-wing extremist.
It's ok, you can admit it.
I like and support Fox. I am not an extremist of any kind. I am a middle of the road type of guy. Maybe 5 degrees to the right but thats all. I have trouble understanding anyone that is far right or far left. I like to make up my own mind and extremists have no minds. Pure putty.
