Control Board plans special meeting on Aria gaming license
Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 | 10:58 a.m.
Hopefully, the operator of CityCenter isn’t superstitious when it comes to getting its gaming license.
The three-member state Gaming Control Board has planned a special meeting for Nov. 13 – Friday the 13th – to hear MGM Mirage’s presentation to open Aria, the centerpiece of the CityCenter development.
Control Board officials considered scheduling the licensing hearing today at its monthly meeting, but with an already heavy agenda and travel issues surrounding the death of a family member of a key witness for MGM Mirage partner Dubai World made it expedient to move the meeting date.
Final approval of the license would then go to the five-member Nevada Gaming Commission on Nov. 19. Several CityCenter facilities are scheduled to open in December with the grand opening of Aria planned for Dec. 16.

I wonder what happens if the Gaming Commission disapprove the application. Would it be more appropriate to get the licenses approved before building the multi billion dollar City Center?
You would think that all the licenses would already be in place. But with having a a multi-billion dollar project sitting there ready to open obviously put preasure on the Gamming Commission to approve it and not investigate the application.
Not to worry though the Great Titanic of Vegas is going to still meet its inevidle destiny.
There's no concern over not getting a license.
please, they'd give charles manson a gaming license to get that city crater up and running.
This is sort of like spending all of your money for a new car, only to find out that your license is suspended..
