Las Vegas to hit the 80s this week

Warmer-than-normal temperatures on the way

Las Vegas will get a string of sunny and warm days this week, according the National Weather Service.

A ridge of high pressure is settling over the region through the middle of the week, leading to dry conditions and high afternoon temperatures seven to 10 degrees above normal, forecasters said.

Temperatures were starting out in the mid 50s about 7 a.m. at McCarran International Airport and will climb to 66 degrees by 9 a.m. and to 74 degrees by noon.

The temperature will climb to a high of 80 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high is 73 degrees and the record high is 87, set in 1988. The record low is 33 degrees and the normal low is 49 degrees for this date.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to a low of 54 degrees Monday morning. Temperatures will warm up to a high of 83 degrees by 3 p.m.

Forecasters are predicting lows dropping to 54 degrees and highs reaching 83 degrees through Thursday.
