Letter to the editor:
Moderate Democrats are disgruntled, too
Saturday, May 30, 2009 | 2:01 a.m.
Regarding Jim Saloisen’s Monday letter to the editor headlined “Results not enough to sway dittoheads”:
Does Mr. Saloisen really believe it is only Republicans submitting letters about being disgruntled with an administration that is leaning so far left to appease the minions of the George Soros-led Moveon.Org, the far-left leaning arm of the Democrats and the ultra-liberal ACLU? This is not “moving into the future.”
I recommend he take a look around him at the disappointed independents and moderate Democrats, where I place myself, who may have supported change but didn’t expect such a far-left ideology permeating the White House and the Congress. He might be very surprised if he tested the temperature of those waters.
As for the 2010 U.S. senatorial race in Nevada, every disgruntled independent and moderate Democrat will vote his conscience and the results may be far from Mr. Saloisen’s prognostication and liking. Nevada Sen. Harry Reid may be on life support, or else the president wouldn’t have made a trip to Nevada to take him off the resuscitator.

Your argument will be more valid if someone steps up to oppose Reid! He's not going to be unseated by a no-name.
So true.
While Democrats are trying to pick the Republican leadership between Powell and Rush.
We know that the Democratic Party is lead by:
- Hollywood starlet spokespersons Janeane Garofalo and Sean Penn,
- ACORN and SEIU founder Wade Rathke,
- SEIU President Andy Stern,
- Mega Billionaire Hedge Fund manager George Soros,
- MoveOn .Org founder Wes Boyd
- Newscasters Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann,
- Comedian Joy Behar, and
- Commentator Maureen Dowd,
But the real Leadership is in the corrupt Congressional Leadership:
- Scam land baron, law breaker, and inept lawmaker Majority Leader Harry Reid,
- Mortgage defrauder Senate Banking Chairman Chris Dodd,
- Air America, SNL, and Porn Comic Alfred E. Franken,
- Tainted ex-Federal Lobbyist Roland Burris,
- Air Force 2 frequent flyer, ardent immigration leftista, EIT denier, and inept lawmaker House Speaker Madam Nancy Pelosi,
- Tax dodger House Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel
- Fannie/Freddie BFF House Banking Chairman Barney Franks
What Republican wants to run against Harry Reid with the Unions ready to tar them. Reid union friends ensure that only the political correct politicians get elected. Intimidations of other candidates including 24/7 (Anthony Pellicano like) electronic surveillance of the opposition (Lynette Boggs) is the norm.
Meanwhile look at what Reid had DEMOCRAT Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto prejudging that Krolicki was a felony.
I'm hard-pressed to think of a time when I heard anyone who referred to themselves as a "Democrat" use the right-wing talking point of "leaning so far left to appease the minions of the George Soros-led Moveon.Org, the far-left leaning arm of the Democrats and the ultra-liberal ACLU".
And so once again the "I'm a Democrat but ...." crowd crawls out of the woodwork.
Recently radio demagogues, conservatives, and taxpayers have complained about FEDERAL SPENDING to manage problems created by spending policy-regulation under Bush.
Those same people do not complain when corporations likewise spend money irresponsibly borrowing at low costs of money, then turn around and, as but one example, charge consumers $30.00 for an alcoholic beverage in 100 degree plus heat at the casino pool.
Spending decisions, and pricing, deserve complaining in "both" the private and public sector.
I believe it's possible interest rates may climb into the high single digits over eight years, and I do not believe that will be unhealthy.
For Nevada homeowners underwater, the value of your mortgages with fixed interest rates will go up, if the cost of money goes up in the future. This helps you with a personal asset that may very well be your most expensive purchase in life.
Higher rates mean new homebuyers will wait 2-3 years longer to make that big purchase in life, something conservative diehards who inherited big trusts or truly "got everything the hard way in life" will understand and appreciate.
National debt was "big and getting bigger" under Bush, a devout Methodist holding firm personal beliefs about spending for Aids in Africa, and many other foreign benevolent spending programs. These are great programs, provided we first take care of those in need at home, and do not do it on the backs of middle and lower classes. Understand, from many reporting national sources, it is the middle class, not the indigent or wealthy American, getting shut out of affordable access to quality healthcare.
The national debt will reduce in net present value by a reasonable rise in interest rates fueled by new, progressive-centrist federal policies smartly designed to tweak our (1) consumer buying patterns, (2) energy supply and consumption patterns causing us to send billions to foreign accounts (with brown skies over cities to show for it), (3) replace declining infrastructure, and (4) improve education outcomes, so Microsoft and tech companies do not have to import engineers and programmers.
The power of new federal patents is huge.
Patent approvals for wireless and software advances fueled early 90's economies. Companies such as Samsung emerged from nowhere.
For the foreseeable future, it would be nice to see approvals in applications that benefit most medical technology and medicines, over approvals for, say, something to replace Blu- Ray/DVD formats.
Americans have spent enough on televisions, phones, and music collections the past 20 years. Newer formats to restart spending from scratch is superfulous. We need new brand names in the doctor office, hospital, and pharmacy shelves.
The costs for maintaining society are always there, only when the federal tab goes up do people complain. Sometimes that's healthy, as in the Carter years, sometimes not.
