Art Walk to tour new downtown statues

The third annual Boulder City Art Walk and Reception will take place 6 p.m. May 29 starting at the Boulder Dam Hotel.

The event is sponsored by ArtScape and will mark the change in the outdoor sculptures displayed around Old Town Boulder City. A tour will be given of the 17 new sculptures in Boulder City sponsored by the nonprofit group.

In addition, the People's Choice, the sculpture that receives the most votes from the public, will be announced.

Senior wellness group planned

The Senior Center of Boulder City will host a seniors health and wellness discussion group at 1 p.m. June 5.

The group will be moderated by a social worker from Boulder City Hospital's Partial Hospitalization Program.

Brass concert set at library

The Las Vegas Brass Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. June 5 at the amphitheater of the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.

The free concert is part of an ongoing series sponsored by Friends of the Arts, El Dorado Energy and the city of Boulder City.

Shot clinic available in Boulder City

The Southern Nevada Health District will hold an immunization clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 at the Multipurpose Building, 1204 Sixth St.

Vaccines needed for school will be given to children ages two months to 19 years old. A $16 administration fee will be charged for one vaccine, $25 for two or more.

Children younger than 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian or a non-custodial adult may bring a child with written permission from the parent.

Artist to be featured at BC Art Gallery

Artist Jane Marquez will be the featured artist at the Boulder City Art Gallery inside the Boulder Dam Hotel June 2 through July 28.

A reception for Marquez will be held noon to 5 p.m. June 6 at the hotel.

Also, June 3 through 26, Marquez will be the featured artists at City Lights Gallery, 3 Army St., Henderson. She will be at the gallery 5 to 9 p.m. June 18 during Henderson's Third Thursday Artwalk.

Boulder City resident wins scholarship

A Boulder City resident has been awarded the Western Governors University scholarship for Urban Mathematics and Science Educators.

Amy Bean was awarded the scholarship, worth up to $3,000. She is working on a master's degree in math education.

Western Governors University is a nonprofit online university that offers bachelor's and master's degrees.

Fundraisers planned for cancer patient

Two fundraisers are planned for Ann Zapolski, a Boulder City resident and cancer patient who needs a bone marrow transplant. A donor has been found and now money is being raised for the procedure.

A silent auction is planned for May 26 through June 5 at the Boulder Dam Credit Union, 530 Avenue G. Quilts and other handiwork will be on display, and bids will be taken.

"A Night to Live For" is planned for 5 p.m. May 30 at the Boulder City Library Amphitheatre, 701 Adams Blvd.

Tickets may be purchased at Tony's Pizza, 546 Nevada Way. They are $50 for adults 21 and older and $1 per year for those under 21.
