Authorities in California's San Bernardino County are investigating the discovery of skeletal human remains off Interstate 15 about a mile south of the Nevada border town of Primm.
San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers says the remains were found Monday by a survey crew west of the southbound travel lanes on the route between Las Vegas and southern California.
Sheriff's homicide investigators were notified Wednesday and began investigating.
Beavers says there's no information yet about the gender or identity of the remains, or how long they had been in the desert.
