A preliminary hearing set for Thursday for Charles Richard Rogers, the Garrett Junior High School teacher charged with sexual assault of a minor and child pornography, has been postponed.
A new date has not yet been set, according to Boulder City Justice Court clerks. They provided no reason for the delay.
Calls to the district attorney’s office and Rogers’ attorney Bill Terry were not returned.
Rogers, 46, is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $1.3 million bail on felony counts of sexual assault of a victim under 14, lewdness with a victim under 14, use of a child in pornography and possession of child pornography.
Police allege they confiscated computer media, video tapes and DVDs from his house that show him performing sex acts with preteen boys.
Rogers, a former soccer coach for the Boulder City Recreation Department and a local soccer league, also taught at McCaw and Robert Taylor elementary schools in Henderson. He was a foster parent until last year.
The preliminary hearing is designed for the justice of the peace to determine if there is enough evidence to turn the case over to District Court for trial.
