Letter to the Editor:
High officials should take blame for torture
Monday, May 18, 2009 | 2:03 a.m.
Regardless of how one feels about the torture/enhanced interrogation techniques used at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo (and most likely other locations), one thing is now certain. At the very least, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and Condoleezza Rice all ordered and/or approved of these methods.
Lost in the debate over this topic is the cowardice these individuals displayed in throwing American troops under the bus by blaming these tactics on a few bad apples. Our soldiers who were only following orders faced court martial, demotion or imprisonment (or all of the above). Support the troops, indeed.

It is now our polititions turn to be convicted for their wrong doings.Breaking the laws they have sworn to uphold calls for punishment by the courts.
If these people voted in to uphold our laws get away with just a slap on the wrist, at that point no one should up hold any laws. Is this a good precident for our lawmakers to set?
Rodak -- Alex Gibney's excellent documentary underscores exactly what you said here.

The fish stinks from the head on down. We will witness some world-class C.Y.A. moves in the coming months and years.
I believe that eventually these scandals will be put in the store front window.
It is my hope that justice will prevail for the tortured, the torturers and most importantly for the families of the victims of the attacks on 9/11/01
It was not torture.
They all should be given medals.
jfnance32 -- then you haven't watched "Taxi to the Dark Side" or paid attention to these threads.
Your comment shows you continue to be completely irrelevant here.
killer8: Mr. Zero Credibilty
He only attacks Republicans even when Democrats do the EXACT SAME THING.
jfnance -- as a courtesy, you just proved my point.
Please, stop the torture. Be polite and respectful to these people, they mean us no harm.
nance; who should we give the medals to?
The "independent contractors" brought in by the military to do the dirty work? Or those who thought it was a "good idea" and "the right thing to do" but couldn't stomach doing the nasty business themselves?
killer8.......Zero cred
You are just a whole lot of hot air.
Your commits have nothing to do with principle and a whole lot of partisan politics.
Nance, the word of the week is: PROOFREAD.
larry5 -- right, and telling everyone you meet "have a nice day" makes the world a better place. Your post is childish.
