PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP:
Boulder City softball squad not resting on laurels

Expanded coverage
The Boulder City High softball team posted a perfect 12-0 record in the 3A Southern League this spring. Moapa Valley, the Eagles' first round playoff opponent, was at the other end of the standings at 0-12.
Come Friday, however, the standings will not matter.
That's the message Boulder City coach Bruce Reid is preaching to his players as they prepare to host Moapa Valley in a best-of-three playoff series.
The winner advances to the four-team, double elimination state tournament next week at Faith Lutheran in Las Vegas. The loser, regardless of past record, will pack for the offseason.
"This is not the time to blow a good season, that's for sure," Reid said. "We've had a good season. The only way to make it a great or outstanding season is to win the state championship."
The league tournament changed this spring from a double-elimination format to the three-game series. Boulder City hosts Moapa Valley at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 Friday, and a third game — if necessary — is slated for Saturday at noon. Faith Lutheran hosts Virgin Valley in the league's other series, with the winning teams earning a spot at state. A 3A Southern League championship series will not be contested.
Other Boulder City teams on the road
The Boulder City High baseball team is seeded No. 4 for the 3A Southern League playoffs and will play in Mesquite against top-seeded Virgin Valley High in a best-of-three games series.
The first game is set for 3:30 p.m. Friday and the second is 10 a.m. Saturday. The third game, if necessary, is 1 p.m. Saturday.
Boulder City's boys and girls swimming team will compete in the Sunrise Regional meet at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Las Vegas Municipal Pool and the Eagles' track teams are in Overton at Moapa Valley High for the 3A Southern League meet.
The 3A Southern League golf tournament was Wednesday in Mesquite after the News went to press.
