A partially blocked stop sign in the eastern Las Vegas Valley might be a factor in a crash that left two teenagers fighting for their life Sunday evening, authorities said.
Metro Police responded at 5:46 p.m. Sunday to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Twain Avenue and McLeod Drive. Investigators said a 2003 Honda Accord northbound on McLeod failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a Toyota 4Runner traveling eastbound on Twain.
The front of the Toyota struck the left side of the Honda, police said.
The driver of the Honda, Michelle Mehrpore, 18, and a passenger, Wilfred Bosserman, 19, both of Henderson, were admitted to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Another passenger, Nicole Mehrpore, 16, of Las Vegas, was treated for her injuries at the hospital and released Sunday night.
The occupants of the Toyota, Joyace Shaw, 45, and Darby Shaw, 10, both of Las Vegas, also were treated at Sunrise and released Sunday night.
Investigators said the accident remains under investigation, although evidence at the scene indicated the stop sign was partially blocked by landscaping from a nearby home.

Some property owners are so selfish. There are alot of blocked view pathways from negligent owners who allow there nasty trees and shrubs to over grow.
i think the property owner should also be held reponsible for some part of the accident.
Hold the homeowners partially responsible for not making sure their landscaping didn't block a vital STOP SIGN.
There used to be a 4 way stop at Twain and Mcleod, but for whatever reason two stop signs were removed a few years ago. This was an accident waiting to happen. I hope this accident will encourage officials to make it a 4 way stop again.
