Park proposed for northwest Las Vegas

Monday, March 30, 2009 | 11:34 a.m.

Proposed park

Northwest Las Vegas residents may be strolling through a 10-acre park near Hualapai Way and Grand Teton Drive in the future.

Residents have until May 11 to comment on the plan.

The Bureau of Land Management would like to lease the undeveloped land from the city of Las Vegas for a park that includes basketball and tennis courts, a children's play area, a nature trail and open grass areas, according to the Federal Register, which publishes notices by federal agencies.

City spokesman Jace Radke said the park is still in the conceptual stages and has not yet been allocated funding.

"It's so early we don't know what it's going to have," he said.

Only written comments will be accepted. They must be addressed to the Bureau of Land Management, Las Vegas Field Office Manager, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, Nev. 89130.
