Metro Police have made an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy inside a garage Sunday night in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

The Clark County Coroner's Office today identified the teenager as Michael Drebitko of Las Vegas.

The teenager was at a friend's house in the 300 block of Brookside Lane near U.S. 95 and Rainbow Boulevard when he was shot at about 6:10 p.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Rocky Alby of Metro's Homicide Section.

When officers arrived at the residence, they found the 16-year-old on a couch inside the garage dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Homicide detectives said after a preliminary investigation that several teenagers were drinking inside the garage when the shooting occurred. The 19-year-old suspected in the shooting allegedly pulled a black handgun from his waistband, then either fired intentionally or accidentally, striking the victim and killing him, police said.

Police arrested 19-year-old Brian Robinson of Las Vegas at about 9:15 p.m. at his house near Michael Way and Washington Avenue, Alby said.

Robinson has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon, detention center records show. He will be charged as an adult, Alby said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to contact the Metro Police Homicide Detail at (702) 828-3521, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
