Most important issues: The most important issues facing our City Council are addressing the city’s financial and debt problems, planning for the new bridge over Hoover Dam and creating a common-sense, business approach for getting things done.

Boulder City’s financial condition requires us to live within our means and to work to get out of debt. In the short term, we must continue to tighten our belt, eliminate wasteful spending, and balance the budget. In the long term, Boulder City should take advantage of the renewable energy zone and negotiate fair deals for our city. As a city, we need to review all of our assets and take to the community different alternatives for providing all of the services for our seniors, adults and children.

Boulder City was created by the construction of Hoover Dam, and now the new bridge will change our community like nothing since the construction ended and the workers left. We must work together and protect our community from the effects of increased traffic.

Finally, Boulder City’s problems need a strategy based on common sense and cooperation to get things done. Our city needs a business approach not a legal, adversarial approach to solving the issues that face our families. I pledge to bring a business sense and people together when possible to get things done, not just talk about it.

Qualifications for job: My education and experience along with a commitment to our community are my greatest qualifications to be your next city councilman.

My experience as a small business owner, working for a utility, working for and with local government and working in transportation, are my best qualifications to be your next City Councilman.

As a small business owner, I understand what it is like to meet a payroll and balance a budget. City government must be run like a business and operate with a balanced budget.

Working for the Las Vegas Valley Water District helped me to understand the need to keep utility rates low and equitable for all and especially for those on fixed incomes. I will use my experience to protect our resources and fight to keep our rates low.

Working for Clark County Comprehensive Planning gave me understanding into master planning and working with town boards, planning commissions and the community collectively for the common good of a community. We must work together to face the challenges ahead.

Finally, my experience working in transportation provided me with opportunities to negotiate complex contracts with a business attitude, which I hope to bring to our City Council. My experience includes working with McCarran International Airport, Cascata Golf Club, and the Las Vegas Monorail. I will use this experience in major projects and transportation as we face the challenges of a new bridge.

What sets candidate apart: As a 13-year resident of Boulder City, I am dedicated to preserving our quality of life. My family, education, experience and commitment to our community sets me apart from the field running for City Council.

My wife Michele was born in Boulder City, and we are the parents of five children, all attending public schools in Boulder City. Our family has four generations who call Boulder City home. I am committed to children, parents, and grandparents and am ready to fight to safeguard our future.

I commit to working together to solve the challenges ahead. Finding solutions will require a diversity of ideas combined with increased civility and cooperation. It would be a privilege to work for the people of Boulder City.
