Palms to host NHL awards show

The National Hockey League is coming to Las Vegas -- to put on its annual awards show.

The NHL and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority today announced a three-year partnership that will bring the NHL awards to the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms.

The show, which will be in Las Vegas for the first time, is scheduled for June 18. It will be broadcast on Versus.

Tickets for the event will go on sale March 24 on Ticketmaster.com and at the Pearl Concert Theater Box Office.

“We are so thrilled to be the host of the 2009 NHL Awards,” Palms Owner George Maloof said in a statement. “Working with the National Hockey League in bringing this event to Las Vegas is something that will be great for our community.”

At the ceremony, the league will announce top performers in a variety of categories, including the most valuable player, outstanding goaltender, outstanding defenseman and outstanding rookie.
