Ron Dante and The Mellowtones will join KJUL 104.7 FM for an old fashioned sock hop at The Cannery March 13-14.

Special guests for the spring fling include The Wonderelles and Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods.

Fans can dance to classic rock songs such as “Sugar Sugar,” “Tracy,” “At the Hop,” “Rock Around the Clock,” Johnny Angel,” “Splish Splash” and “The Stroll.”

Dante is best known as part of the '60s group The Archies, a duo that included Andy Kim, but also produced "Ain't Misbehavin'" on Broadway, which earned him a Tony for best musical in 1978, and "Children of A Lesser God," which took the Tony for best drama in 1980.

Dante also co-produced the plays "Whose Life is it Anyway?" (1981), "Duet for One," (1981) and "Crimes Of The Heart" (1986).

Through the years he has a produced records for such artists as Barry Manilow, Cher, Dionne Warwick, Pat Benatar, Irene Cara, Ray Charles and John Denver.

  1. Andy Kim was never a member of The Archies. Basically, it was Ron Dante and top-notch session musicians.
