The horn-driven, funky Tower of Power is in town this weekend so don’t be surprised if some of its members show up to jam with some of their biggest fans – Lon Bronson and the All-Star Band.
TOP will be at The Orleans at 8 p.m. Friday-Sunday at The Orleans ($34.95-$59.95; call 365-7075 for information).
Bronson et al (one of the hottest bands in town) will perform Thursday at Sunset Station’s Club Madrid, a free concert from 9 to 11 p.m. Members of TOP who come into town a day early may make the trek across town to Madrid to join the local group in its one long set.
Saxophonist Stephen "Doc" Kupka (TOP co-founder) will be there for sure, promoting his “Doc Goes Vegas” CD from his own blues label Strokeland Records. With him will be “Doc Goes Vegas” artists Larry Braggs (vocals) and Rocco Prestia (bass). Braggs and Prestia are also members of TOP.
Bronson and the Allstar Band have a busy schedule ahead of them – Sunday (March 8) they will perform an 8 p.m. concert at Green Valley Ranch’s Ovation, where they will also perform at 8 p.m. March 29.
