House fire
An early morning house fire in Henderson has displaced a family of six, but all of them escaped without injuries, according to the Henderson Fire Department.
At 2:07 a.m. today, Henderson firefighters were called to a residence at 131 Beech Ave., near Lake Mead Drive and Warm Springs Road, said Jeff Lytle of the Henderson Fire Department.
As firefighters arrived, flames and smoke poured from a side door, windows and from the roof vents of the single-story, single-family home, Lytle said.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. All of the residents were home at the time of the fire and the smell of smoke alerted them to get out of the house, Lytle said.
The fire was accidental. The dryer ignited materials nearby in the laundry room and spread up the wall and into the attic, Lytle said. The house had heavy fire damage to the laundry room and to the attic with significant smoke damage throughout the residence. Damage was estimated at $150,000, Lytle said.
The Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the six members of the family. NV Energy, Southwest Gas and a city of Henderson building inspector also assisted in securing the home, Lytle said.
A total of 29 personnel from the Henderson Fire Department responded to the blaze, including those on four fire engines, a truck company, two rescue units, two chief officers and two support personnel, Lytle said.

Glad they made it out OK. With home values what they are I'm afraid $150,000 in damages = total loss.
