If we have patience, Obama will prove us right

Barack Obama was elected president by a large majority. That’s common knowledge. In our wonderful country, citizens have the right to speak out and disagree. That’s one of the four freedoms. And that’s common knowledge.
We have to accept that Fox News Channel, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich and others who embrace negative opinions of the current administration have every right to get up on their soapboxes and sound off and snap at Obama’s heels.
But we have the right man in the right place at the right time. His openness, dignity and determination to get things done are, to put it mildly, more than a breath of fresh air. Sure, there will be mistakes made.
The mess the Republicans left for Obama to clean up isn’t going to go away easily. After all, it took the Republicans eight years to dig the hole we are in with Mr. Gut Feeling at the helm.
Progress is being made. Lets give it a chance.

Obama had a solid election night but not by a "large majority".
He got 52.87% of the popular vote and 365 electoral college votes. That is good but is by no means outstanding.
The elder George Bush got better numbers against Dukasis (53.37%, 426 electoral college). Did Bush elder won by a large majority, too?
Sometimes you Obama worshippers have OD on the kool-aid that elite media pushes out. How about using that brain of yours once in awhile?

Mistakes have already been made.
The redistribution stimulus package is a failure, the foreclosure programs are failures, gimto closure is a failure, etc
If we do not attempt to correct them we well not recovery anytime soon

You are absolutely correct...we (the citizens of the USA and the people of the world) are the losers and we have no one to blame but ourselves. We elected this evil person; it's not like he was forced upon us by some rigged election a la Iran, and now we must suffer the consequences of our mistake.
But hopefully, we may only have 3.5 years, not 7.5. Just today I am shocked to see in this very Democratic rag of a paper, an editorial by the owner/editor Brian Greenspun, somewhat critical of BHO's policy towards Israel. There is much to be critical of BHO and his policies but to actually see it coming from someone as partisan as Brian Greenspun and the LV Sun is incredible, and gives me some bit of hope for the future of our country/world.
I can understand why most Jewish people vote Democratic. Many of them believe in a government based on socialism.
The Jewish voter needs to be aware that they are empowering the party whose base probably seeks the destruction of the Jewish state in Israel.
There is a good chunk, if not a majority, of the active Democratic base that believes Israel is one of the most evil governments on the place of the earth.
The top of the Democratic party, except for rare occurrences, has largely rebelled against the party's base desire to destroyed the Jewish state in Israel and often support policies that are 180 degrees in opposite direction of those base party's belief.
Obviously, anybody with two set of eyes and ears could have seen that Obama has been hanging around with Israel haters for decades, Just look at his spiritual mentor and that church he attended. However, he did get on his knees and begged Jewish leaders to ignore those friendships and to believe that he is a strong friend of Israel.
It will be curious to see what they will do in the next presidential election after now seeing the true colors of Obama in action. Well they shoot themselves in the foot again? Probably yes......perhaps the United States should re-evaluate its policy of putting the money and lives of Americans at risk for the sake of Israel. If Jewish voters do not care about it then why should the rest of us?
Here's some facts for you Archie: 1. Obamination until he was 10 years of age was a Muslim. 2. His record as a Senator was appauling in attendance and voting. 3."You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." This Obamination is on his way to destroying the USA. We now have over 50% of the population looking for a free ride and those are most of the morons that won the election for him.
Well, Mr. Weitman, I hope you have put on your asbestos underwear because you are about to be flamed by the True Believers who can never admit they are wrong about anything--See: GW Bush.
I wrote about the patience of Obama and believe you are absolutely right. It is going to take a long time to undo the damage, esp when they are still trying to inflict more. The ones who are going to get it right are the voters of the next generation.

I have only one thing to say to the Obamanites. Keep on drinking that kool-aid he passed out to all his followers before the election. Because if he has his way, this country will NO longer be Land of the Free & Home of the Brave. It will be more like Land of Obama & Home of the Obamanites. And anyone that doesn't like it can DEAL with it or move. Which is exactly what myself & family intend to do if & when it gets too bad. And believe me. If people don't wake up before 2012; this country as we have known & loved all our lives will be no more. Because 8 years with Obama as president will be long enough for him to have his socialist country up & running. So my only hopes are his followers will wisen up & quit drinking the kool-aid. If you don't think of yourself; think of your children that will be left & having to grow up in a socialist country.

The more I read your posts, the more I'm convinced that you have NO idea what socialism actually is.....Not sure where you went to school, (maybe you didn't?) but I think you took several long, long naps during history & government class, not to mention English class.
You and SgtRock are two peas in a pod.... Both of you have not as yet figured it out....Obama won this past November. He had a majority of the popular vote and a majority of the electoral vote......matter of fact, Obama carried over 65% of the electoral vote. I would call that a stronge majority....wouldn't you?
Hopefully, I shouldn't have to remind you and "Rock" that the popular vote has NOTHING to do with the actual election of the president.
George W. Bush will back me up on that statement. You may remember that Texas George didn't have a majority of the popular vote in 2000 (a half a million votes short of a majority) but he was still chosen as president because he had a majority of the electoral vote...maybe you don't remember that?

The last time I looked, all any candidate has to do to become president is to carry a majority of the electoral college...you are right, that's exactly what Clinton did in both 1992 & 1996...
In 1992 Clinton earned 370 electoral votes (68% of the electoraL college vote) and in 1996 he did even better with 379 (70%) of the electoral vote... Not bad considering the fact that a popular 3rd party candidate was in both races....
I'm glad to see that you remember a few vague bits of information from your school days concerning how members of Congress (House & Senate) are elected , along with the role of the electoral college in the presidential election process.
Before I forget.....U.S. Senators are no longer elected by state legislatures...that went out in 1913 with the 17th Amendment. Maybe you were asleep when your government teacher covered that?
I'm sure your history/government teacher would be proud of you, (but only up to point...) but I can't say the same thing about your English teacher...
By the way, I pay ALL of my bills. My income allows me to do that on a monthly basis with money left over..
We've had various examples of socialism as part of our system for a long, long time... A good example is Social Security. Historians tell us that its the most successful social program in the history of the world......WOW!
Guess what? It's very, very popular among the American population....Its not going away any time soon...
It's very existence has allowed us to do away with the "poor house" in American society...Your lack of historical knowledge probably keeps you from truly understanding that whole concept...
There's numerous other examples of socialism alive & well in our current economic/political system. I would explain several of them to you, but I don't want to over-whelm you with more information than you can handle...
Hang in there POWERPLAY....Once Congress passes national health care legislation and Obama signs the bill into law, you, (probably for the first time....) along with some 47 millions Americans who currently don't have health care coverage, will be covered....You're going to love it....trust me!
