A worksite accident at a Henderson park this morning sent a construction worker to the hospital after police say he was ejected from a truck on the site.

The incident happened at 9:53 a.m. in Pittman Wash, where it enters the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex at Arroyo Grande Boulevard and American Pacific Drive, said Henderson Police spokesman Todd Rasmussen.

The worker was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he was admitted to the trauma unit. His identity hasn't been released.

The worker was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived, Rasmussen said, but he wouldn't comment on the severity of the worker's injuries.

Rasmussen said the investigation has been turned over to the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration; an OSHA spokesman said he couldn't comment on the details of an open investigation.

The project site includes a pedestrian underpass beneath American Pacific that will link the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex with the future Cornerstone Park, which is planned to the south. Crews are also building a footbridge across the wash within the sports complex and making various upgrades to trails, fields and equipment within the complex.

CORRECTION: This story was updated to reflect that the worker was ejected from the truck, not struck by it. | (June 25, 2009)
