MaryKaye Cashman, chief executive officer of Cashman Equipment Co., has headed the firm since 1995, when her husband, previous owner Jim Cashman III, passed away. Cashman, who moved to Las Vegas in 1964, is among the few female owners of a Caterpillar dealership. Cashman Equipment has more than 700 employees in seven locations throughout Nevada. Prior to joining the company, Cashman was a registered nurse at University Medical Center. In 1988, she joined Sunrise Hospital, where she worked until 1995. Cashman served for three years on the board of directors of Nevada Power Co. and has a 15-year association with the Young Presidents’ Organization. She is on the advisory board of the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at the University of Nevada. In addition, Cashman is on the board of trustees of the UNLV Foundation and the advisory board and government affairs committee of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization, the Committee of 200 and the Nevada Development Authority. She is on the executive board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas and has contributed to Bishop Gorman High School, the University of Nevada, the College of Southern Nevada, and the Community Colleges of Great Basin and Truckee Meadows.
