The Boulder City Council on June 9 canvassed the votes and approved the results from the general election in which Cam Walker won a four-year term on the council.

Walker will be sworn in at the June 23 council meeting along with Duncan McCoy, who won a seat in April’s primary.

The council voted 5-0 to approve the election outcome without comment.

Official results show Walker edged Bill Smith 2,219 votes to 2,004. Turnout was 4,264, or 42.26 percent of eligible voters.

The count was accurate and there were no irreconcilable errors in the city’s 12 precincts, according to the Clark County Election Department.

Two council seats were open because incumbent Councilman Mike Pacini couldn’t run again because of term limits and Councilwoman Andrea Anderson is stepping down.

Voters also approved all six ballot questions covering annexation, term limits and gender fairness in the city charter. A question asking whether the city should allow geothermic and geothermal energy exploration and production in the Eldorado Valley passed.

The five questions that would change the city charter must be passed by voters twice before they can take effect.
