Letter to the editor:
Scapegoat for Obama era never in question
Thursday, June 4, 2009 | 2:02 a.m.
Regarding the lengthy commentary in Sunday’s Las Vegas Sun by Frank Rich of The New York Times, “Who is to blame for the next attack?”
Reading the headline, and knowing the past trends and philosophy of both Rich and The New York Times, I knew the punch line without having to go there: George W. Bush, of course! What else is new?
Less than 200 days into our new president’s term and already The New York Times is gearing up to absolve him of any faulty decisions. President Barack Obama is a lucky man to have “all the news that’s fit to print” in his corner.
Anybody want to guess whom Frank Rich will blame when the stimulus package doesn’t quite work out? When North Korea explodes more nuclear devices? When the jobless rate keeps climbing? When other natural or man-made disasters occur? I think I know the answer.
Clue: It won’t be Barack H. Obama.

The new york times is the American version of pravda > SAD BUT TRUE
Well, let's take a look at this, Al.
Bush screeched that we would "git" bin Laden "dead or alive". A year later he "just wasn't a priority".
Bush had his own multi-billion dollar bailout package passed. How's that working out?
Bush had EIGHT YEARS to deal with North Korea. Didn't he include them in his "axis of evil" speech? How'd that work out?
Bush tried to repeat Reagan's failed piss-on, er, trickle-down voodoonomics. How'd that work out?
"Natural or man-made disasters"? Is that what Rush told you?
POWERPLAY, are you a cartoon character?
The more I read this the angrier I get because we spent eight long years (and still going, mind you) of the right wing blaming Clinton for EVERYTHING.
In addition, re the "natural or man-made disasters" comment, how did that response to Hurrican Katrina work out, Al? Surely you remember, "Heckuva job, Brownie". And wasn't it GWB who STOOD ON THE RUBBLE OF THE WTC for a [expletive deleted] PHOTO OP???
HE STOOD ON THE RUBBLE OF CLOSE TO 3000 DEAD PEOPLE FOR A PHOTO OP, AL. I suppose that was OK with you, eh?
Take your feigned outrage and ..... well, you know what to do with it.
I wonder why New York city, obviously the most directly traumatized by 9/11, never fell for the GOP line of B.S.? I laughed when the delegates to the GOP convention in 2004 said New York city citizens just didn't understand what terrorism was and then I felt disgusted at right wingers for their utter stupidity and callous attitude. POWERPLAY represents well this anti intellectualism.
Democrats, like PatriciaLV, want to have it both ways.
Bush was in office for 8 months and do not DARE assign any fault to Clinton for 9/11.
I doubt that they will apply the same logic to Obama.
Already the Obama excuse machine is in high gear.
3 years from now it will be in overdrive.
"The New York Times is gearing up to absolve him [Obama] of any faulty decisions.
It has already happened
Where is the New York Times and Team Obama outrage and condemnation of the killing of Pvt. William Long by a known terrorist trained in Yemen and living under the "watchful eye" of the FBI.
Say what - The Obama - Holder FBI was watching Abdulhakim Muhammand and did not stop him from killing a soldier.
Obama and the New York Times are giving Abdulhakim Muhammand a pass on "murder".
But Obama does not believe in the prevent of a crime just the conviction after the crime is committed. No EITs for these guys.
Still waiting for a comment from the WhiteHouse.
Al, anytime someone uses the H in Obama's name, their credibility goes down the drain. There is no doubt where your mindset is, and it is not open to anything, so why bother with you?
Bush wasn't responsible for the attacks on 9/11, but he was for the response.
Conservative crackheads, your chance to lead the country has passed. You failed. Get used to it.
I'll bet the farm PatriciaLV listens to Rush on a daily basis.
First off, Jim, I'm not a Democrat. I've posted that innumerable times on these boards. But it's not what you want to hear so you ignore it as you ignore the rest of reality. You ignore the Hart-Rudmann Report that Bush was HANDED the day he took office. You ignore all the warnings (not least of which was from MOSSAD) that the noise was on a very serious uptick. You ignore then-AG John Ashcroft ceasing to fly commercial in July 2001 because of **serious warnings**. You ignore that the main security concern of the G7 or G8 meeting in Genoa, Italy in March of 2001 was ***terrorists flying planes into buildings***.
You ignore ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that doesn't fall in lockstep with your belief system.
"But Obama does not believe in the prevent of a crime just the conviction after the crime is committed. No EITs for these guys."
One can substitute ANY neocon name for Obama and that statement would actually be true.
Conservative crackheads indeed ..... LMAO. I'll have to remember that one.
rusty, get back to us when you have something intelligent to say.
BTW, you'd lose that farm (not that it would be worth much of anything after eight years of catering to big business, mind you).
SgtRock: Bush could not place any blame on Clinton for the 9/11 attacks for one glaring reason. When asked by Bush what he thought the top 5 priorities should be for his new administration, Clinton listed Osama bin Laden and AlQaeda as number 1. Bush responded that he thought AlQaeda/terrorism should be number 5.
He observed that low level consideration of bin Laden despite NUMEROUS LOUD WARNINGS from his own advisors until September 11, 2001.
Also remember that in February of 2001 the Hart/Rudman commission, created by Clinton, called for the creation of a Cabinet-level agency to assume responsibility for defending the country against the increasing likelihood of terrorist attacks IN THE UNITED STATES! The commission making the recommendation included high-ranking military and former Cabinet secretaries.
President Bush did not act on this report, preferring to await the findings of Vice-president Cheney's terrorist task force, which failed to ever meet before 9-11 AND FOR MONTHS AFTER, because Cheney's task force didn't exist.
I apologize for using facts and not innuendo.
Other than getting caught stuffing his pants with classified material to prevent it from being vetted by the 9/11 commission, Clinton's NSA man, Sandy Berger, is also famous for hanging up on the special forces unit commander who had Bin Laden in his sights. But then Clintons responses to terrorist attacks would never qualify for a "Profile in Courage" award, would they.
While what Sandy Berger did with copies of documents was odd it did not deprive others access to the information contained in those documents. I am more interested in whether the so called hang up on a military team is true. Can anyone with actual credibility speak to this and point to original documentation showing this to be true? None of this Faux news crap but actual source documents.
"anytime someone uses the H in Obama's name, their credibility goes down the drain.'
Why? Somebody needs to tell Obama who said it today in Cario.
Because, Future, when President Obama uses it he is trying to defuse hatred while you are trying, in your clumsy obvious way, to inflame rather than inform.
Source documents? Credibility? Clinton administration??? Thanks for the laugh. They may be under the Rose Law firm files.
So rusty57,
I take it you have no verification that this event actually happened the way you claim it does and this is just your way of diverting attention. Someone made the claim regarding Bin Laden and a military team. Who was it?
Well, Gordon, I am hearing crickets.
We're all waiting for that citation, rusty.
Still waiting ..........
rusty no facts: A POWERPLAY who can spell
Thanks Patricia for proving my point.
I am sure that Paticia will not DARE apply her logic to Obama if a terrorist attack occurs.
Throughout Clinton's term, Bush's term and now Obama's term they get reports every month that have claims about tons of possible various attacks on the US.
Will she use her logic against Obama as she has done with Bush?
I seriously doubt it.
jfNance32, err, SgtRock, err, James F. Nance Jr busts out his crystal ball YET AGAIN and tells us of the future!
PatriciaLV is GOING to be a hypocrite, but not yet! His crystal ball says it will be so!
He's been right so many times before! That's why he had to change his screenname!
This website needs a break from Patricia's non-logical incantations. (And, a few other misguided souls).
And tonights winner for most intelligent comment is......afveteran. Good Night, and remember, we're all on the same team.
agreed - afveteran has summed up patricia very well. and patricia, you're "not a democrat"? next you'll be telling us that you DID NOT vote for Obama?
I suppose you like to call yourself a "progressive" rather than a liberal or a democrat, as it helps to bolster your false feelings of self-importance and moral and intellectual superiority.......
So afveteran is now the thread (logic?) police. Tell us what is "non-logical" about what I wrote.
And "just an average joe" comes out of his hidey-hole to ..... well, what exactly is your contribution here, "joe"?
I'm an independent. Have been since I first registered to vote. I've voted almost ALL parties over the years based on issues. The past few years, however, have forced me very VERY far away from virtually all republican candidates due to their extreme stances on issues .... especially those hot-button non-issues (e.g., flag-burning) that the little memes seem to depend on so desperately for their very existence.
And now you can regale us with YOUR intellectual contribution to this thread, "joe". I can't wait.
That had to be one of the most hurtful comments, afveteran. "And, a few other misguided souls" yet you felt NO NEED to mention anyone but ME. What makes you so bitter and crude? Better still, point out ANYTHING I wrote that was incorrect. But you better back it up with NON-right wing sources.
Fine. You need a break from me? Enjoy the Futures and Nances (or whatever the little meme calls himself) and POWERPLAYS (LMAO) and all the other right wing wackos.
You apparently now have a new one ... "just an average joe". At least he can spell (though his punctuation leaves a bit to be desired).
And you can all turn this into the new FreeRepublic.
Hi PatriciaLV,
afveteran reminds me of the narrow minded people I met when I was in the Air Force many years ago. They take people fresh from high school and college and indoctrinate them into a authoritarian/follower system where a questioning attitude is punished. While there are exceptions they are not generally in positions of authority. Given the mission of mass murder, I tend to think the college graduates are probably business majors with a low aptitude for critical thinking. Thus comes afveteran.
Patricia,
Oh sure you are an "independent", just like Harry Reid is.....
remember his slogan from his last election campaign?
"Harry Reid.....Independent.....like Nevada"
I'm sure u voted for him also, just like u voted for Obama....... Independent? hahahaaaa! dang u absolutely kill me!
http://public.cq.com/public/20060905_hom...
Of course, democrats deny it. And i seem to have misplaced the satellite phone transcript between the NSA chief and the CIA agent. Jeez.
Wow,
A docudrama as reliable source of information? rusty57 needs to get to a research library.
Also there is this regarding special forces and Bin Laden:

PatriciaLV:
It sometimes gets rough on the playground, get over it, get back at them, just don't start throwing sand or your recess will be over.
While I don't agree with your views, I do enjoy reading them.
all I continue to see on here from the left is personal attacks on those that dont agree with their view.....follows the line of the view women, oprah, etc., on and on...it is constantly seen when faced with facts that they cannot and will not back up.....personal attacks...we see it from the dems in office as well....Hillary, Obama, Kennedy...personal attacks on Bush and the Republicans....we all know there are very different points of view and each is entitled to them under the Constitution...I believe that we still live under that document for the time being....so why cant the personal attacks be left off and discuss views and FACTS and maybe some problems will be solved
