Motorhome fire stalls Interstate 15 traffic near Jean
Monday, July 27, 2009 | 10:19 a.m.
A motorhome caught fire late Sunday afternoon and briefly closed traffic on both sides of Interstate 15 at Jean, about 30 miles southwest of Las Vegas, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
There were no injuries in the fire, which destroyed the motorhome, said Sgt. Kevin Honea of the highway patrol.
Traffic going south on the interstate was stopped for about 15 minutes and the northbound lanes were stopped for half an hour, Honea said.
The highway patrol blocked traffic between Las Vegas and Southern California until the Clark County Fire Department responded and checked on fuel and propane tanks, Honea said. Once the danger of any explosions was over, travel on I-15 resumed, he said.
Eyewitnesses said black smoke could be seen for miles.

I was apart of this traffic yesterday, and we were stopped for an HOUR and half, not just a half hour.
Yes this article is incorrect in the statement as to how long traffic was stopped for. I was also stuck in this awful traffic and it was for 1 1/2 hours.
I was there as well. 1.5hrs to go from stateline to jean!!!
Whine, whine, whine. The reporters' article is only as good at the info she gets.
Would you have rather have the cops let you through and have the propane tanks explode and kill or maime you?
Then you or your relatives would sue for being too stupid for going too close to the fire.
There was nothing brief about not moving at all for an hour and sitting in stop & go traffic for another half hour.
Total comedy to watch people leave the freeway and try to off-road, especially the white van with the trailer. Unbelievable.
