Planet Hollywood will start its recruiting process for 800 employees to staff its PH Towers with a two-day job fair next week, the company announced today.
The company will be hiring for both hourly and salaried positions in hotel operations, housekeeping, food and beverage, security, facilities and guest services. Job fairs will be hosted on July 30 and 31, from 9 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Planet Hollywood in the Grand Ballroom.
Start dates will begin in early October to prepare for the towers’ soft openings, ramping up in November for the official grand opening. The non-gaming, 52-story residential tower will include 1,200 suites and 28 penthouses.
The 800 jobs will be filled by workers not currently employed at Planet Hollywood because the resort did its internal hiring and shifting this week, a spokesperson for Planet Hollywood said.
The company said all full-time employees will receive benefits packages that include health care coverage and a 401K plan. Employees will received free meals in the team member dining room per eight hour shift.
The Planet Hollywood employment news comes in the same week two separate companies announced they were beginning their search for 500 employees each.
Las Vegas’ new Hard Rock Café location on the Strip announced Tuesday it would be hiring 500 employees for its summer opening. On Monday, CityCenter announced that its luxury, non-gaming hotel, The Mandarin Oriental, is also hiring more than 500 workers for the hotel’s December opening.
The Mandarin Oriental positions are part of the 12,000 employees CityCenter announced it would be hiring last December.

Finally some good news to report!
If the total number of visitors isn't rising wont these new jobs just be met with layoffs elsewhere as hotels carve up the same pie in smaller pieces?
President Obama's "don't go to Las Vegas on the taxpayers dime" has now become government policy, thanks a lot harry Reid, you lead us down the path of?

SHUT UP neiman1, it still has not gotten through your head? It is the greedy corporations fault. Get a clue.
Are these full-time jobs that pay a livable wage and offer adequate health care benefits, A 401 plan with matching contributions, paid vacation and sick time off?
Greedy corporations? Until people realize who feeds these "greedy corporations" the city of Las Vegas will always flourish. Without your money, they city dies. With it, free enterprise as it should will thrive. Simple.
Thanks Felix!! I love you man!!!
Like it or not Neiman hit the nail on the head. These new jobs will be met with layoffs elsewhere as the pie is cut into smaller pieces. Not only are the visitor numbers down, people are not spending as they have in the past. They are not dropping 70 or 80 dollars at lunch which is easy to do in many Casino Restaurants. They are no longer paying $20.00 cover charges to get into the over rated "Ultra" Lounges.
Good point, Phargo--and one of the reasons they might need it!
Actually, I think some of these openings may bring people into town just to check out the new places. Whether or not they spend money is another question.
Las Vegas can open all of the new places they desire. It will not make any difference in the outcome. Casino companies will be filing for bankruptcy reorganization to possibly remain open and major companies like MGM Mirage will be selling properties to raise cash: Example: Treasure Island or TI.

You hit the nail on the head, not Neiman. Read his post again.
