Clark County is looking for volunteers to sit on a 15-member committee that County Commissioner Rory Reid is setting up to look at how the county spends money.
The impetus for the panel comes from budget cuts now facing the county, much of which resulted from the unprecedented loss of $180 million over the next two years in state funding.
Called the Committee on Community Priorities, the committee will meet publicly, do surveys and “gather new ideas to address budget challenges and control spending,” according to a county press release.
People interested in being on the committee need to submit by July 31 an application available at www.accessclarkcounty.com. The County Commission plans to appoint people to the committee at its Aug. 4 meeting.

Your kidding right! How about the 4 million dollars that was just loaded onto the taxpayers when they gave Las Vegas Paving the 215 beltway job, that was 5 million over the lowest bidder! Thats responsible spending! Seems that was one of the issues brought up at the meeting, responsiblity! Maybe the County needs to out there money where there mouths are!
Cuts needed because of loss of state funding? Are you stupid? How about the cost of that palace the commission works in? How much does that tv station they have for all their campaign "interviews" cost? How about county employees taking salary cuts, like the state workers and private sector ALREADY HAVE!!!! No, Spineless Rory has no guts and will not make a tough decision. He needs a "committee" of cronies to put the blame on. Hey Rory, be a man for once.
