Wednesday, July 15, 2009 | 9:55 a.m.

CARSON CITY – Another top executive is leaving the governor’s office.

Mendy Elliott, deputy chief of staff, will move to the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation on Monday.

She has been in her present job for 13 months and before that was director of the state Department of Business and Industry under Gov. Jim Gibbons.

Asked if she was pushed to resign, Elliott said, “I chose to accept this position.”

Elliott is the fourth top executive to resign from the governor’s office in the past two months.

Josh Hicks resigned as chief of staff. Christopher Nielsen, legal counsel to the governor, has quit. So has Kelly Chouinard, an assistant to the legal counsel and chief of staff.

Gibbons last week named Robin Reedy, who was deputy director of the state Department of Business and Industry, as his new chief of staff.
