U.S. 95 near Laughlin reopens after wreck

Friday, July 10, 2009 | 10:06 a.m.

Accident

An accident on U.S. 95 between Laughlin and Searchlight shut down the highway for about half an hour this morning.

A collision involving a tractor-trailer and a small sedan occurred about 8 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Honea said.

The driver of the sedan was flown to University Medical Center's trauma unit, but Honea said the driver was walking around when troopers arrived at the accident scene.

The road reopened just before 9 a.m., Honea said. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn't injured, he said.

The accident occurred on U.S. 95 just north of State Route 163 near Laughlin.

Since the closure of Hoover Dam to truck traffic after Sept. 11, 2001, U.S. 95 has been the main truck route between Las Vegas and Phoenix.
