Seeking input on health care reform, Nevada Rep. Dina Titus spoke with nursing students and faculty at Touro University Nevada.

Students expressed concerns about the difficulty of finding their first jobs despite the shortage of nurses in Las Vegas, and they are hoping a remedy will emerge from the proposed reform of the country’s health care system.

Titus said that when she returns to Washington this week, “that’s all we’re going to focus on. It’s all about insurance for the uninsured.”

Titus said she doesn’t think reform will happen in one fell swoop, but expects it to come in pieces. Although she supports a public option for health insurance, she said she would consider voting for a bill that didn’t include it if reform did come in pieces.

“We’ve got to do something. “It’s a matter of details, not a matter of doing it.”
