FLASHPOINT:

In two approaches, a sign of things to come from GOP gubernatorial candidates

Heck’s news releases need proof reading; Montandon promotes informal poll

Sunday, July 5, 2009 | 2 a.m.

Maybe it’s the shape of things to come, maybe it’s a sign of nothing at all. But a couple of press moves last week by the Joe Heck and Mike Montandon campaigns for the GOP gubernatorial nomination were starkly different. Heck sent out two news releases about his appearance at an Independence Day tea party that had two errors. First, it didn’t have the date, later corrected. But even the corrected version gave the location as “Dessert Breeze Park,” which is one “s” too many for a park in the desert. Hello, proofreaders? Meanwhile, Montandon’s campaign was blast-e-mailing supporters to vote in a Channel 3 poll on the race, which its anchors surely will breathlessly report as scientific. Smart move there. Omens or not? We’ll see.
