House fire
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that displaced a family of three this morning in Henderson.
The Henderson Fire Department responded at 5:57 a.m. to the report of a fire at 3705 Via Di Girolamo, which is near St. Rose Parkway and Bermuda Road. Firefighters arrived about six minutes later to find fire in the garage and smoke throughout the house.
The fire was brought under control about 12 minutes later, but not before causing about $250,000 in damage to the home and another $100,000 in damage to its contents, Battalion Chief Mike Gibson said.
Three residents of the home were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors and the smell of smoke. They were able to evacuate and no one was injured.
Officials said 33 members of the Clark County and Henderson fire departments responded to the scene. NV Energy, Southwest Gas and a city of Henderson building inspector also responded to assist in securing the home.
Nevada Red Cross is helping the family with accommodations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
