Fire on Sojourn Court
An accidental fire in the garage of a Henderson home Saturday night did an estimated $7,000 damage, Henderson Fire Department officials said.
The Fourth of July blaze, which broke out about 8 p.m. in the 1000 block of Sojourn Court, near the intersection of Gibson Road and American Pacific Drive, was not the result of fireworks, a news release said.
Nobody was injured.
The occupants of the house were alerted to the fire by the smell of smoke, official said. The first firefighters arrived within 4 minutes and found smoke coming from the front of a two-car garage, officials said.
The fire was extinguished within seven minutes.
There was fire and smoke damage throughout the garage but only an odor of smoke inside the house. The family of two was displaced, however, because of damage to the home’s electrical systems and made arrangements to stay with friends for the night, fire officials said.
A total of 29 personnel responded to the incident.
