If you're hitting the road for the Fourth of July holiday weekend, you'll find some good news at the gasoline pumps.
Pump prices have been falling during the last week in the Las Vegas area, according to surveys done by AAA, the travel and auto group, and by GasBuddy.com, which relies on reports from its users.
AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report, which was updated early this morning, showed that today's self-service prices were averaging at $2.685 per gallon for regular gasoline in Las Vegas.
That was down about a penny-per-gallon from $2.693 on Thursday and down 3.3 cents from a week ago.
Meanwhile, GasBuddy.com, was reporting today that some regular gas prices in Las Vegas were as low as $2.52 per gallon.
The $2.52 price was reported early this morning at Sam's Club, Craig & Losee in North Las Vegas, and at three other stations Wednesday and Thursday: Polo market, 3585 North Lamb Boulevard in northeast Las Vegas; Arco, Craig Road and Lamb Boulevard in eastern Las Vegas; and Rebel, 4240 E. Craig Road, in northeast Las Vegas.
GasBuddy.com's sister site, NevadaGasPrices.com, was reporting this morning that the average pump price for regular gasoline in Las Vegas was $2.674, down from 2.696 a week ago.

Considering we have a surplus of 2 million barrels a day hitting the market the real price of oil should be around $40 a barrel. Start shorting oil futures and you will make a lot of money this year. Unless N. Korea bombs Hawaii like they have threaten to do the price will continue to drop.
Wow- really? I just love it when the media report gas prices falling or rising. It's just SO HARD to figure this out on my own.......
Congratulations on this fine investigative piece. Maybe you'll get a Pulitzer.
Logic, your comment begs the question, why then would you read any media that is titled, "gas prices falling in Las Vegas?" You obviously have this prior knowledge, perhaps you should consider the prefix "IL" before your screen name.
I saw on CNBC it may drop to $50 a barrel. I wonder if Jim Gibbons launching his so called investigation had anything to do with it. I doubt it.
gas prices are absurd. nuff said
