A 23-year-old Las Vegas mother was arrested today and charged in the drowning of her 5-year-old daughter, who suffered from severe cerebral palsy, Metro Police said.

The drowning occurred June 30 in a bathtub at an apartment complex in the 5300 block of East Craig Road, said Capt. Vincent Cannito.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the child as D'Amber Myles.

The mother, Raven Gibbons, has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of murder in the second degree and child neglect with substantial bodily harm.

There is no bail set for Gibbons, detention center records show. Gibbons has no local arrest history, according to police.

In addition to the June 30 drowning, there have been two other drownings in the Las Vegas Valley this week.

Just days before her second birthday, a girl drowned in a backyard pool on Yellow Dawn Court, near Ann Road and Decatur Boulevard, about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Clark County Coroner's Office identified her as Chrissa Nina Matthews.

A 2-year-old boy died at another area hospital Monday after he was found in a backyard pool on Sunday, police said. The coroner's office identified him as Dayne White of Las Vegas.

The previous two drownings this week showed no evidence of foul play, investigators said.

  1. Good looking woman. I'm sure it was just an accident. Hope she gets a low bail. No way you can control the kids all day long.

  2. She's good looking if you're looking at her from pluto.
