Robbery suspect

Metro Police are searching for a suspect involved in the attempted robbery of a grocery store slot area in the 8300 block of Cheyenne Avenue on May 2, 2009.

Attempted robbery

A clerk's screams in the slot machine area of a northwest valley grocery store scared off an armed man who demanded money, Metro Police said. The attempted robbery happened two months ago and police released a video today in hopes that someone can identify the man.

Police are asking for the public's help in solving the attempted robbery at the store in the 8300 block of West Cheyenne Avenue about 5:30 a.m. May 2. Police weren't identifying the business.

The man first sat down at a slot machine then left after about two minutes, police said.

He returned a few minutes later and approached a clerk in the change podium, lifting his shirt and showing the employee a handgun, police said.

The man then demanded money and the clerk started to scream, police said. The man left the store without any cash.

Metro detectives said the man is 23 to 25 years old, weighs 130 to 140 pounds and stands 5-foot-4-inches to 5-foot-6-inches tall and was wearing sunglasses. He wore a black T-shirt with an orange logo and black pants.

Anyone with information about the man is urged to call the Metro Police Robbery Section at (702) 828-3591, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555. A cash reward may be available to anyone providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man.

Discussion: 2 comments so far…

  1. why release this so late?

  2. This is the 2nd time in recent weeks they released something 2 months after the fact to get people to help identify someone. I have no idea why they wait so long. That is really clear video though, they should have released this immediately on the news. They will catch this POS A-hole for sure! Honestly, wtf with the delay on these things?
