Senior News:
Senior Center looking for handy volunteers
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 | 5:58 p.m.
The Senior Center and the city have signed a contract for us to buy our building!
This is very exciting and a little scary at the same time.
SCBC will now be completely responsible for all maintenance and repairs, including landscaping and lawn mowing. Anyone who owns a home understands the expense associated with owning a building.
We need to stay ahead of maintenance and repairs so we are not faced with any major expenses.
If you are a plumber, electrician, carpenter, bricklayer, landscaper, or any other professional tradesman, and you would be willing to donate your skills to assist the Senior Center, please contact us.
Start the day right
As we reported last week, SCBC has started serving breakfast a couple days a week.
Breakfast will be served on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and, starting July 11, every other Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
The BC Opry will be performing at SCBC July 10. Please come and enjoy a variety of music as several different groups lend their talent to entertain you.
This is a free concert. All donations will go towards the SCBC meal programs.
Calendar changes
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the BC Music Jammers, which was meeting on Thursday evenings, has decided to disband.
The grief and loss support group has stopped meeting until the fall. The group anticipates resuming in late September.
