Summerlin community in brief

Summerlin Art Festival canceled

The economic downturn has taken its toll on the Nevada art community.

The Howard Hughes Corporation, developer of the Summerlin planned community, announced the Summerlin Art Festival has been canceled for this year because of the slow economy.

This was to be the eighth year of the festival, which is held each September. The festival in past years featured two components: La Strada dell'Arte, a street painting festival; and Celebration of the Arts, an outdoor art show with more than 125 artists and craftsmen.

In a letter sent to supporters, Howard Hughes Marketing Director Nikkole Liesse said the event should resume in 2010 if the economy rebounds.

Individuals with outstanding traffic tickets with the Las Vegas Township Justice Court are encouraged to pay their fines by calling 671-3444 or visiting ClarkCountyCourts.us/PayTheFine.

Fines can also be paid at the Traffic Division of the Las Vegas Township Justice Court, located on the first floor of the Regional Justice Center at 200 Lewis Ave., in downtown Las Vegas.
