A $2,000 fine was just fine

Many will not agree, but a $2,000 fine was a just penalty for former rising star Lynette Boggs McDonald’s criminal case. That’s not really the price she paid — public humiliation (the infamous pink bathrobe) and her political demise (she was crushed in her County Commission reelection bid) were the real sentences. But it always seemed to me that what Boggs did — fudged where she really lived — was a misdemeanor compared with what others have done — and are doing. Maybe she had too much hubris — I certainly had a few set-tos with her — but I always respected her toughness and she never lied to me.
