Metro Police launched a manhunt in the area of North Pecos Road and Walnut Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. today after a man fired shots at an officer, authorities said.
No one was injured, said Metro Police spokesman Officer Bill Cassell.
Police officers stopped a pedestrian near Las Vegas Boulevard North and Cheyenne Avenue. There was a brief struggle before the man shot at police and they returned fire, Cassell said.
Police have blocked off Cecile Avenue between Walnut and Pecos, and traffic is moving slowly on Las Vegas Boulevard.
No one is in custody at this time.
Police are searching apartment complexes and strip malls in the area for a man believed to be in his 20s and 5-foot-9 inches tall with a medium build, wearing a red baseball cap, a black shirt and red shorts, Cassell said.

Was he black, white, hispanic? Just a little hint of creed and color might help.
They are worried about being racist.
So they leave out the key part of the description.
To not offend short or tall people they should leave out the height.
To not offend transgender people, they should leave out gender.
To not offend old people, they should not list age.
To not offend fat people, they should not list build.
To not offend anybody they should not list the clothing.
It would be: "Police describe the shooter as a person, Cassell said."
How about "Police describe the ALLEGED shooter as a person who ALLEGEDY had a gun?" We don't want to be too judgemental, do we?
I hope they catch this piece of crap......I am tired of the thugs running the system.
From another news source:
Police say the suspect is described as a black male adult in his 20's, about 5' 9" with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a black t-shirt, with a white shirt underneath and red shorts.
