A man died Sunday morning after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car, the Henderson Police Department said Monday.
Authorities said the man, 51-year-old John T. Godron, of Henderson, was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson at about 1 a.m. Sunday northbound on Pecos Road when it collided with a southbound 2006 Dodge Charger driven by Julien Decoster, 33.
The Charger turned left from Pecos onto Wigwam Parkway in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle collided with the car. Authorities said Godron was thrown from his bike and died at the scene.
Godron was wearing a helmet, police said.
Decoster, who wasn't injured in the crash, submitted to a voluntary blood test to check for alcohol, and police said alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash.
Police are still investigating the incident. No citations had been issued as of late Monday morning.
This is the first fatal crash in Henderson in 2009.
