The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s board of directors on Monday appointed Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming president Keith Smith to the board of directors of its Los Angeles branch.

Smith will join six other directors in providing the Federal Reserve System with information about the gaming industry.

Smith will replace outgoing member Peter Thomas, managing partner of the Thomas & Mack Development Group.

As Boyd Gaming president and chief executive officer, Smith oversees 16 properties in Nevada, New Jersey, Mississippi, Louisiana, Indiana and Illinois. Smith became president and CE0 in January 2008.

He is currently vice chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, chairman of the Nevada Resort Association, and vice chairman of the American Gaming Association.

Smith brings more than 25 years of experience in the gaming industry to the Los Angeles board of directors.
