A North Las Vegas man has been arrested in connection with the Friday death of his wife, authorities said Sunday night.

Authorities responded at 1:15 a.m. Friday to the home of Earl Barbeau, 28, in the 3000 block of Asher Lane after he called 911 to report that his wife had committed suicide. Officers arrived to find the 38-year-old woman, Holly Michelle Barbeau, dead of an apparent gunshot wound, North Las Vegas police said.

Investigators determined that evidence was inconsistent with a suicide and detectives classified the death as a homicide. Barbeau was later arrested in connection with second-degree murder and booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center.

Anyone with information in the case is being asked to call CrimeStoppers at 385-5555.

  1. Looks more like the deer in the headlights look. He must be in shock.

  2. Holly was my cousin, she was a vibrant beautiful young woman that had her life cut short by a man that should be charged with 1st degree murder. She spoke with my mom three weeks ago, I wish she would have been able to leave then. My mom called me right after they spoke, my mom was afraid he was going to kill her. She will be missed. I hope my Aunt Uncle and cousins will be ok. I believe Earl should be charged with more than second degree murder. Please if anyone has any information call the tip line. Holly I am sorry you will be missed so. You will forever be in our hearts.
    Love always Maverickmavin

  3. Earl is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law but not in my mind.

  4. You would be in shock too if you found your wife dead.

Thank God Maverickmavin that you are not in charge of the law seeing as how you are so bias.

Earl is a very, very sweet man. Holly was not however, vibrant. Unless you call an alcoholic, pill popper with a severe gambling problem vibrant. Holly was not a healthy or happy woman, and suicide is not an unreasonable concept.

I do however agree with you on one thing Maverickmavin, I too wish she would have left. Years ago.

  5. What you say about Holly may or may not be true. Those facts however do not give Earl, or any other man the right to kill or abuse. A very very sweet man would have done anything other than beat his wife, torment or kill his wife. Regardless of her aleged downfalls. That may be why, if what you say is true, she was unhappy and probably trying to escape the hell she lived in. In speaking with her we do know that suicide was not part of what she was feeling. It must have been hard living with a freeloading, porn addicted, abuser that refused to help with any of the responsibilities, (refused to pay anything he did not have to give her the money. He lived off her.) This tragedy is usually what happens when the woman finally has had enough and wants out. The house was hers. He could have left at any time. The truth will come out regardless of what you or I think. There will be unbiased reports that will show what happend. Lets see how sweet he looks after that. I suppose going back and forth with you will be pointless you are in obvious denial. I am sure after the truth comes out you will have some excuse for his actions. Every abuser blames the abused.

  6. He was working on one of my rentals prior to this, he has been doing work on my properties for a couple of years. I would say he was the nicest guy in the world. I would not have anticipated this. He always was the most polite person.

  7. Unfortunately, Holly was an extremist feisty person. She never met in person, but I got emails from her in my folder calling me all kind names you can imagine. She was friend with my husband Eric, and voluntary download the divorce papers for him. Later I learn that she abused Earl verbally and physically in from of people, and told my husband she want to commit suicide since they were broke, facing foreclosure, she had to make one more surgery to the dog bite leg, got hocked on pain killers and she did not have any reason to live.

Earl seems to me a very nice polite gentleman that fought on Iraq and had the nightmares constantly. I think they got in a fight. She used to invite me to got shot guns on the desert, lucky I never went!

  8. Claudia....
