Missing boaters found dead at Lake Mohave

The bodies of two boaters reported missing Friday were recovered Saturday from Lake Mohave, the National Park Service said.

The men have been identified as James Mercer, 70, and Francis Blossom, 74. Both are from Pahrump.

Rangers said the wife of one of the men reported them missing Friday when they were late returning home. They departed at about 8 a.m. in a 12-foot aluminum boat from Cottonwood Cove, which is on the Nevada side of Lake Mohave in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Mercer was found near Tamarisk Cove at 9:30 a.m. Blossom was found near Nine Mile Cove at 4:30 p.m., the park service said.

National Park Service rangers conducted a search by boat, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted by helicopter.

The search was suspended late Friday night and resumed at 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

The bodies have been released to the Clark County Coroner's Office.
